Hi SB! Yes, pretty much so, thank you for asking!

Lots going on...."stuff" crowding my head again. This week, for the first time in a few weeks, I have had a couple of poor nights' sleep again, thoughts invaded by the less than positive stuff going on.....so I am working my way through that, really. Have a counselling session this evening which will help, though.

Loving my burlesque classes - have done 3 now out of the set of 5 beginners lessons.....will definitely want to be signing up for the next level, which will probably begin after Christmas :)

DD is getting on well at work, thankfully - it is still v early days but I think it was the right decision for her at this stage. DS is having his first forays back into sport after his leg injury, so all is well (touch wood) there as well.

Payday is tomorrow - initial budgets have been drafted, as I now know what to expect in the way of reductions from XOH and child benefit etc. Focus, focus, focus. We can do this. I am lucky enough to have a small bonus coming tomorrow for Christmas - it is half what we received in recent years, which is a sign of the economic times of course, but a bonus is exactly that - something "extra" so I am very grateful to have one at all. It will pay for DS's and my season tickets for next year, so we get something "extra" for it. Having spent so many years putting my bonuses to debt, or just survival, I do want to do the fun things with them now wherever possible. Also, it means I never rely on the cash....which would be a dangerous thing. I am sure there are plenty here who are expecting what they had in previous years....have probably spent it 3 times over already. So to get half that amount will be a bit of a shock to them. I am glad I am not in that camp any more!

All in, though, life could be a whole lot worse. There are lots of positives around too. I just need to keep things real, and in perspective.

    Life is good. Genuinely.

those burlesque classes sound like fun, getting your season tickets and DD doing well in her first week. Focus on the positive. Sorry to hear that night worries are taking over again. I know that you have been writing things down recently but not sure what time of the day you do it. If it is at night why not try just writing all the things that have happened that day that your are grateful for......... eg burlesque classes, season tickets, a bonus........ and why they make you grateful. That way you are going to sleep on positives and highs rather than the negative. Find another time in the day to focus on the negatives. Hope that makes sense.

Really interested to learn more about these burlesque classes. They intrigue me and would love to have a go but think I would just giggle all through it

Thanks, guys - the counselling session was very good. It really does help me, and I am very lucky to have a fantastic person to work with. Followed that up with a session in the gym, so got some other stuff out there by exercising, which is very beneficial.

MrsMoo, the burlesque classes are fabulous fun - there are about 15 of us in a class, with a teacher who is part of a burlesque troupe so spends all her time dancing. We have a huge giggle all the time we are there - it is not like any other class I have ever attended! For a start, wearing heels and stockings in a dance studio is not the usual attire!

There are all ages, all sizes, and some who are very definitely shy gradually coming out of their shells. It is a great class to attend, and I would highly recommend it. I hope to continue it!

Each week, everyone gets a little more confidence, gets a little more cheeky, and a little more daring. The first week, we just worked on various poses, and stances, then last week on walks, plus how to peel off stockings in a more sexy way than I usually do at the end of the working day.....and this week we worked with props - feather boas, fans, parasols etc. Next week we are peeling off gloves....and the week after, goodness only knows!

Each week we put it all together so we constantly revisit stuff we have done before, putting routines together with some fabulous music that you can't help but wiggle your booty to :D

That's the whole point, though, taxi - it is all about building confidence....complete beginners stuff. No confidence needed when you start, but it certainly comes along quickly!

Burlesque is all about embracing curves, being who you are and loving it - quite different from any other exercise or dance class I have ever experienced. It is the main reason I took it up!

Well, that and the fact that I have wanted a proper corset since I was aged 12 :rotfl:
