Loving this. Not much time to respond as need to cook tea for parents. Absolutely with you on this - amazing how hard it can be though to give ourselves permission to make choices for us.

I've been having coaching over the last 18 months - without it I wouldn't have made the decision to leave work to do the things I am passionate about (I know with the house sake falling through this may still come back to haunt me but it is still a choice I would want to make). I have been less and less happy with the job but always felt I *should* do it - good salary, secure position, etc. Coaching questions those shoulds - should do it for whom? And in the end I thought - life is too short to mess about (sudden illness focuses the mind too!). Do what you want while you can.

And I think you are right Hypno - I believe we can do anything we really want to do. Some of those things may require us to give up other things - and somethings may take time, effort and commitment to achieve - but that is part of making a choice.

Loving all this stuff Hypno :j. It reminds me of the little bits of Sartre & Aristotle I read when I did philosophy. I always try to tell people to take control back - there is always an element of choice involved in what we do, or how we react to circumstances which are foisted upon us, and we should always try to be honest with ourselves about our choices - not always easy I know.

I have a friend who doesn't like her job - despite the fact she's been doing it for years & been with the same company for 30+ years. She wouldn't look for another one as the pay, hours and pension suited her, but moaned continually about how she hated it. In the end I sat down with her & went through everything she hated & every objection she had to leaving. She concluded (much wine & tears later ;)) that she hated the job less than she loved the security etc, so was actually CHOOSING to stay there rather than having no choice in the matter. By taking responsibility for her choices she felt empowered and came to terms with her choices. She still moans though, but not as much :rotfl:
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Love all the last page. Anger is so inappropriate for us Brits and that causes us such a heap of problems.

I found releasing it and channeling it was the single biggest breakthrough when I went through a similar experience.

I promise you, Hypno, that you will come out the other side and life is so good then! :j:j
But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?

thanks guys - again, by having you posting, it confirms that it is all normal, and that is a very important thing for me to be aware of. Thank you for the support - it is far better than any self help book!!

Went to the cinema last night with one of the football crowd - we saw Tyrannosaur......very dark. Superbly directed etc, but not a film that I would choose to watch again. Very very serious......

Next time, I choose.....and we see something with the word "comedy" in the blurb.....! I will insist!!

Got in late, so am very tired today - thankfully I have a long weekend ahead of me, so will have much coffee today and survive, and look forward to a few days off.

Have a good one - tomorrow is payday. I have 12p in my purse. Could be worse :rotfl:

I can absolutely recommend The Help when you're next at the cinema. Although the subject matter is serious, it's fantastically well acted and some bits of it are laugh out loud funny :D

Here we are again with the 's' word. I HATE that word!!! Who says we should do these things? The same people who are too scared to do anything different usually!!!!!! We should do whatever we like, because it suits us!!!!!
