Thanks KC and lucielle!! I will share the details later, when I know whether it comes off or not. I am quite optimistic about it, so am channelling lots of positivity into it for her.

Regardless of what happens, I am very pleased to say that I am proud of both my children. They're brilliant. Not perfect (that would be worrying!) but brilliant.

It does. I am embarrassed to say I have made no progress since I left here. Because we can make the payments it didn't seem urgent - but halving household income in 7 months focuses the mind!

The main thing is, miz, that you haven't lost the old ways of doing things, you have kept things ticking along, you have reasons for any increased debt, you have a sense of reality about what is needed, and you know you can do it!

Like you say, focusing the mind will make a huge difference!

Thanks. I think the lightbulb has been flickering on and off but is getting brighter all the time. I can live in hope that the house will sell for enough to pay off the debts - but I have to plan for the possibility that it won't and that - worst case - we will be on one salary that will only just cover mortgage and rent! So debts need to go down - and I need to make money. I have plans for self employed business (on back of p/t dog training) but really need to make it happen in the next few months.

Maybe a shiny new diary is in order...

Hopefully the house will sell, but at least you are already thinking of the alternatives and working out how you can manage on plan B, plan C, or whatever!

That is the difference between someone who will make it, and someone who won't
