Howdy stranger :hello:
Long time no "speak". I haven't been posting very much on MSE for a while now but I lurk on your thread a lot and love hearing about your news. I hope you dont mind but I need an opinion on something and would appreciate your advice.
Presently we are a one income household whilst DH pursues a business venture. This is fine as we can pay the bills and still 'live' on my salary. We have been toying with the idea of further reducing the term of our mortgage whilst we are in a position to do so, which would result in a £100 increase in our mortgage per month (which we can afford). What I was just wondering was, what % of your income do you pay on mortgage and bills, and what % is fun money? I hope you dont mind me asking, I just dont really have a comparison and would appreciate your input as one of the wisest DFWers ever to grace these boards

Evening all - just got home after sharing a post work bottle of wine with a girlfriend, putting the world to rights as you do!!
ATB, I did this exact exercise a couple of weeks ago, but the figures are at work - I will post them again tomorrow but I think it is more or less 40% to the mortgage, 15% to savings (long term savings plus holidays) 10% "fun stuff" and the rest to utilities, travel (petrol and bus passes), food etc.....
Will do it properly tomorrow xxSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -

Ooh this reminds me of something that I heard last week and I'm not sure how I stifled a giggle. I went to a funeral, which was of course a sad and rather solemn occasion, until the (lady) Minister started talking about Jesus' erection :eek::rotfl:Nothing is so fatiguing as the eternal hanging on of an uncompleted task.
