when i make mine. i always use linconshire or cumberland sausages . ( i take the skin off , instead of buying sausage meat ) tehn i beat an egg ad brush over the pastry and add a generous amount of mature cheese. scrummy. i have never made them any other way.0

I put a pinch of garlic salt, and black pepper in with the sausage meat and sprinkle mixed herbs over the meat before rolling up. then sprinkle a bit of really strong grated cheese on the top of the pastry before I cook them. I have to make around 4 dozen tommorow as my eldest grandson will eat a dozen at a time. He has hollow legs I think. He hates shop-bought sausage rolls, he says they've got no taste in them.0

Hi everyone, Have tried to search but it didn't come up with anything - maybe i'm just no good at the searchy thing. Anyway, I currently use Mr T's value frozen sausage rolls as they claim to be free from artificial flavours/colours/preservatives but taste not so good! Apart from frozen cod portions and sausage rolls, we are a completely home made only family and i would love to kick the frozen sausage rolls into touch and make my own in large batches to freeze. Anyone got a good quick recipe / ideas on how i'll be able to do it? Any suggestions would be gratefully received. Thanks in advance.Proud to have dealt with my debts. Get some pork sausage meat - lots of supermarkets have it in the frozen section. You can add seasoning and some herbs to add some extra flavour. Roll out some ready made packet puff pastry unless you really want to make your own but very, very time consuming! Then make a sausage shape with the meat and lay on the pastry. Egg the sides of the pastry and roll up. Egg wash the top, add a couple of slits in the top of tha pastry and cook. Now debtfree except for the mortgage!0

I used to have a recipe ... if I find it, I'll post it. However, I do remember putting lots of individual knobs of butter on and then layering and putting back in the freezer several times. I'll have a look round, it may well have been a very old Delia recipe. Now debtfree except for the mortgage!0
