Would you report someone you knew for benefit fraud?

Whilst I've no sympathy whatsoever for people who steal benefit, it's not right to accuse someone just because of their spending patterns. Stick to complaining about what you can prove. In the circumstances described I might be reporting them to Social Services for the environment in which the children are being raised.
Spending patterns caught a benefit claiming drug dealer locally.Truth always poses doubts & questions. Only lies are 100% believable, because they don't need to justify reality. - Carlos Ruiz Zafon, The Labyrinth of the Spirits0 -
If you know for a fact that something funny is going on then yep report report report. If you just think that there might be then it would depend on what you know. I was reported a while back by someone but i have no idea who. A DWP woman actually came out and visited me at home but to be honest I think she just wanted a break from here office as the allegations were stupid. I apparently was living with a man (true, my husband) and working while claiming an unspecified benefit (yes i work) had bought a newer car (true a 3yo vectra) The realities of the matter were/are I live with my husband and kids, we both work him ft and me 30 hours. I have Multiple Sclerosis so sometimes use a walking stick or frame but sometimes nothing depending on the day. I get DLA lower care because of permenant nerve damage to right hand and arm so meet the not able to prepare a meal criteria. My consultant supported me in requesting a blue badge from my local council because my condition is not yet severe enough to meet criteria for high rate mobility (and hope it never does). I have no idea if whoever reported me knew i was claiming DLA (it is not broadcast but i lived in a block of flats where the building was numbered but flats noted by position and postment often got confused so mail could of been intercepted ) or if whoever it was just decided newer car + blue badge meant i must of been frauding someone
Despite DLA not being a out of work benefit and partner/single having no affect DWP needed to investigate and i guess that cost a good few quidMF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/20000 -
I wish there was a public database to find out what benefits people are on, after all its my taxes that keep people on benefits. and this way it would be harder to commit fraud if people knew what you were claiming for.0

Theft is theft, it doesnt matter how you try and dress it up. Benefit cheats are thieves and should expect the whole weight of the law to come down on them when they are caught. I have no problem in reporting benefit cheats or any other person breaking the law...0

i have reported my cousin because she has a lad who works living with her. he has left his wife and wont pay anything towards his 2 kids upkeep. they were tipped by a friend of theirs that works at the DHSS what to say and so i have reported him as well. i work full time and these 2 are not going to get away with her claiming as a single person. she is scum and her 2 kids live with their dad as all she wants to do is drink alcohol and take drugs!Just about to give up!0
