Either the plane(or is it a spaceship ?) has to land for servicing/fuel, or "Gneer" will be proved right.

How do you arrive at that conclusion? If it lands after prices have stabilised how will he have been proved right?

    No it doesn't.
The plane could have taken off from sea level and landed at a different airport.

Think of it as taking off from Heathrow and landing at San Rafael.

P.S. Long term, the flight only seem to be going outbound, with no return flights ;)

The plane has reached heights of around 150,000 feet. Some would say that the plane is flying too high, others say that it needs to reduce it's altitude for the safety of it's passengers (and those that it may crash into on the ground).

How many feet above sea level is San Rafael ?

If house prices = altitude (which I think they do in this analogy), then landing on the ground would cause a hell of a lot of whinging around these parts.

This is just getting pathetic, so I wil carry on marking my students exam papers rather than be drawn into silly arguements that make no sense.

But there has been a crash chuckles.

    Sigh.

This is as good as it is ever going to get! This is the most profitable it has ever been in just over 20 years, it will never be this good again in any of our lifetimes. I can just wait and sell when the market picks up, but the longer the better, I hope it stays like this for another 15 years.

    It makes perfect sense.

And you are marking exam papers ?

Tick, tick, tick.... another year of improved results. Are students doing better each year, or are exam standards slipping ?

It does not make any sense to get involved in sily internet arguements when there is work to do, then I have a 7 mile run to do.

Yes I am marking exam papers, what point are you trying to make?

It's my first year, but standards do seem to be a lot lower than when I was a student. My class sizes are 60 to 115 (when I was a student they were about 25-35)

    Sorry. I made a mistake.
Turns out that bullish bulls have been incorrectly calling a soft landing since 2001. :rotfl:

    http://www.nationwide.co.uk/hpi/2003_forecast.htm
Market stronger than expected in 2002.
Most forecasts (including our own(1)) predicted a slowdown in the housing market during 2002 - however, the market once again strengthened with house price inflation (at c25%) reaching the highest levels since the late 1980s.

Good lord. They made dropped the ball with that prediction didn't they? Utterly utterly failed in both timing and principle.

Apparently, theres a certain forum demographic who consider timing just about the most importing possible issue in the whole wide universe.

Nothing to do with the actual house price crash I'm sure.
