  • Argh - trying not to think 'SPOILT, STUCK UP TARTS' watching these girls. I love the charity shops, and I'm so proud of myself when I get a bargain.

My boyfriend cut my hair last week, and did a cracking job :))

My husband cuts mine too :)

One of those girls you can tell by her whole attitude she is never going to stick by these thrifty ways.

I also love the charity shops and ebay for clothes.

6 tomatoes costs more than 1 bottle of ketchup! hardly money saving!
  • I used to make friendship bracelets for the girls at school with embridery floss out of my mum's tapestry kits - I was not popular with her when she found iot missing!
I used to use the kilt pin from my school skirt to pin the knot to my jeans to pull against.

Does bicarb really work on oven hobs like that? It looked magic!

Yep bicarb does work wonders like that. Personally i use star drops because it does the same thing but works out cheaper.

    My thoughts exactly!

Now if she'd 'marketed' it as being better for you, with less unpronouncable ingredients and chemicals then perhaps, yes. But she said it was cheaper. Maybe she did manage to get six tomatoes for cheaper than 5ltrs of ketchup but with the amount she ended up with, it certainly wasn't cheaper than a regular bottle!

bicarb is not cheaper than than carpet freshner. Its 41p per 100g vs carpet freshner which is 30p per 100g. Not a massive difference I agree but its not always cheaper to be 'old style'

I thought that too - plus all the spices and gas and she didn't end up with many portions did she?

Must admit though... I love my ketchup and would need hundreds of toms to feed my habit :o.
    :hello:
  • It really got my back up when she said "can you believe we're going out in charity shop clothes" and "we dont need to tell anyone where we got it from" WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU!!??

Im not far off their age - im 27, so i dont think its a generation thing.

It never occurred to me that people would look down on me for wearing 2nd/3rd/4th hand clothes!

They wouldn't, and if they did they weren't worth knowing.

'Can you believe it, we're actually going out in Charity clothes...'

How much did it cost? £750........ What planet are these muppets on!? :rotfl:

Thing is, there are a few types of people in this world. The people who couldn't care less what people think of them and the people who are so desperate for approval and for people to think that they are successful people who have buckets of money that they're falling over to drape themselves in every designer label going. Or every seasons new clothes. Guess who's got the most money?

Rich people couldn't care less about labels - and they certainly wouldn't have them on show. It's vulgar!

The real rich are really quite tight.

p.s. bicarb mixed with washing-up liquid into a nice, thick paste makes for an AMAZING oven cleaner. Just spread it on, leave it for a little while and then rinse it off. When we moved in here, the door was so dirty I couldn't see through it. Now it's sparkling :)

    p.p.s. I'm younger than you!

I had the pleasure of meeting the lovely Ilona actually in the flesh on Saturday - we were comparing prices at the local "Approved Foods" cash & carry. Turns out that she lives in the next village to me...talk about a small world! :rotfl:
