Part of the Furniture 1,000 Posts Name Dropper I've been Money Tipped!
This morning on the Beeb, they promo'ed tonight's program on child poverty. As part of it, they interviewed a dad who had been forced to give up work in order to care for his two daughters. He wasn't your stereotypical "benefit scrounger*"; this was a hard-working dad with two beautifully spoken, highly articulate daughters, talking about how he goes without so that his children are well fed, have clean clothes, etc. Anyway, I found myself thinking: this is the sort of person who could do with some help/support from a thrift army, not those over-inflated egos on Superscrimpers.

    * I don't believe there are that many scroungers around. Most people want a better life for themselves and their children. Or am I being Pollyanna?

Oh dear, that ribbon bracelet looked a bit rubbishy, didn't it?
We could all have done much better than that, with a few buttons out of the tin threaded on, or just perhaps not putting it in your mouth?!

Where would you get the big bottles of white vinegar from? I can only find expensive stuff!

I was taught to do them much differently and they look much better.

I also put the end in a drawer, it holds onto it better and you can see what your doing.

    Also a bit more hygienic!

Edit: p.s i just lost my newbie sign :D woohoo!
  • Also who else would love £50 a YEAR to spend on a head to toe make over let alone as a one off like these girls have to do tonight.

I think they should have been made to sell their clothes / shoes that are excess to pay off their debt.

Also perhaps give some to those who are in desperate need!
  • I used to make friendship bracelets for the girls at school with embridery floss out of my mum's tapestry kits - I was not popular with her when she found iot missing!
I used to use the kilt pin from my school skirt to pin the knot to my jeans to pull against.

Does bicarb really work on oven hobs like that? It looked magic!
  • Argh - trying not to think 'SPOILT, STUCK UP TARTS' watching these girls. I love the charity shops, and I'm so proud of myself when I get a bargain.

My boyfriend cut my hair last week, and did a cracking job :))
