Brilliant idea. Good luck with clearing that amount. I will keep watching your diary to see how well you do with this.
Sounds like a good challenge and I might even attempt to do it myself. Could do with saving £1k a month.

Thanks Flee! Its maybe a little ambitious but I am just so fed up of the debt hanging over me, I need to do something drastic to try and blitz it! I remember the feeling when I got my total debt below £10k - the first time in about eight years I had owed a four figure sum instead of a five figure one, and that was brilliant. I'm hoping it feels just as good to be down to three creditors instead of four after this mini-challenge!

Good luck with your savings in you decide to join in. My theory is that if I have been able to repay the amount of debt I have done over these past four/five years then I should be able to save a fair bit in the coming years once I am debt free!

    Day 2

Hello all! Haven't had much free time today so haven't had a chance to do much debt busting I'm afraid!! I have a DD who is almost 4 and a DS who is nine weeks old so they take up a considerable chunk of the day!!

Hopefully I will get on to the banking tomorrow and get my budget for the month sorted out, but until then I have paid £100 to Northern Rock to keep my momentum up!! New figures below, and I will be back tomorrow, hopefully after a good nights sleep!! :o

  • Hello, thought I'd better update here with my plans,

I pay off about 800 pounds to my debt each month, some on the loan (£600) and some to the CCs, depending on how much I have overspent:o on my regular oops more month then money Cc I also have a 0% CC to pay off........

any how. the plan for the next 30 days
(sorry just watched the B and Q ad, very amusing)

    1. not to use the more month than money CC.

    2. To sell 15 items on e bay

    3. To do daily clicks on Quidco

    4. To have a cull of all my unused bank accounts and collect up the money to go on the loan.

    5. To write to Student loans company.

    6. To cash my pennies in and pay them off the debt.

that 'll do for now. got a busy today which I didn't really want

    see you later

    xxx
    Nevertheless she persisted.

    Day 4

Hello all! I didn't manage to get online yesterday for one reason or another so on now to have another look at my pennies (or lack of lol) and make another payment.

Hello yukkibear, thanks for the congratulations! Haven't spoken to you in a while, I've not been on here for ages - and am in need of the final push to clear my debts! Hope everything is well with you!

Hi Dizzybee - thats great you have received the money to clear your rent arrears, that must be a weight off your mind! I'm sure that will give you a little boost of motivation to get on to the next debt to pay off too!

Hey buffy, your plans sound good. What are the daily clicks on quidco? That sounds interesting, I have a quidco account but haven't done any daily clicks via that.

So my latest update is another £75 off the Northern Rock account, which means the balance outstanding is £1,166.29. Would love to get the loan below £1k in the next few days and I probably will have enough to do this but don't want to leave myself short. I have a few things waiting to come off my account, so once they are off I will go ahead and pay off whats left.

I am expecting a payment into my bank account of a couple of hundred pounds in the next few weeks, so hoping this can go towards the debt too.

    So todays update..............

    Days 5/6

So it is proving slightly difficult to get on here every day to update, so this entry in my diary is to cover yesterday and today! Have made a payment of £66.29 tonight which brings the total down to a nice round £1,100 - I say nice but I mean an even number, its not nice that I owe anything really!! Still leaving myself some money in my current account as I don't want to completely empty it to this debt as that would leave me high and dry!

That works out at £45.83 per day to clear this in the remaining 24 days.... not impossible but not entirely easy either!! I have done a pie chart so that I can see it coming down, will try and upload it to my diary so that I can look back at this diary, hopefully for motivation for the next evil creditor I plan to attack!!

    DAY 5/6 Progress = 21% Paid / 79% Outstanding

    Day 7/8

Looks like I'm only able to get on here every second day! Never mind, still making payments which is the main thing. I've received my WTC today so have used some of that to put towards my challenge and the rest will get the food shopping later today. So I have made a payment of £110, which takes the balance to £990, so I am now under one thousand pounds on this account for the first time in several years! :j Feels great, its like I'm on the home straight now with this one - although its still a fair bit away from being zero!

With the kids being on holiday for the next 2 weeks I have decided to keep back £100 for doing things and going out, so anything I have left over from that will also be thrown at this account. Also need to check my quidco and see if there are any payments I am pending on that.

How is everyone else getting on with the challenge? What are you using as your incentive to get to your targets? Getting rid of one creditor is a good enough incentive for me, but I'm thinking we might go and look at wedding dates at the venue we have chosen once I have this one cleared.... we'll see! ;)

    DAY 7/8 Progress = 29% Paid / 71% Outstanding
