My 30 Day Challenge!

Intro...
I have decided in order to get rid of my 4 creditors I need to attack them one at a time. Am sick of being in debt and just want to be free of it, so! I have decided to take one of my creditors and throw everything I can at it, in the hope that I can get the balance down to zero within 30 days.
Tomorrow will be day one, as thats pay day and the first creditor I'm going to ditch is Northern Rock. Think I owe about £1,400 but will call them for the balance tomorrow. The account was originally a £10k loan to consolidate but I ended up living off it for a while back in 2004 or 2005 when it was first opened, and ignored the debts it was supposed to consolidate. Its been part of a DMP since 2007 and its really time for it to go.
If anyone wants to join in my 30 day challenge, feel free - I will post back tomorrow with my opening balance and first payment.... let the debt busting begin!!

Thanks Elantan, I'm sure you will get there soon too, its been a long hard slog trying to get my debts down - I'm just at the stage where I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and I want the debts done with!!
Hi Keggie, I'm planning on cutting back on our weekly food shopping to free up a little extra cash, plus pay a chunk of my wages towards it. I also ebay/Amazon quite a lot so will be listing on those to try and generate some extra money. I use quidcoso any income from that will be used too. If you have any other suggestions, they'd be welcomed!!0 -
it's great to give yourself that final push to get there ... hey you could always pay off my visa for me once your done ... just £4050 i'm sure you have that amount lying around gathering dust :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0

I think I quite fancy this. I have been wondering about a new challenge and needing some motivation.
I don't have a debt that I can clear in 30 days but I would like to aim to clear 1000 pounds from my debts.
will be back on Saturday to make plans

LOL I wish I had that amount lying around!! I've been in debt for sooooo long I'd feel like a millionaire if I had £4k just sitting spare!!
Haven't phoned to get my Northern Rock balance yet, but I have just checked my online bank and my wages are in - and are about £450 more than I thought they would be. I'm currently on maternity leave but on full pay, so I'm not sure why its more than I was expecting.
Off to investigate and will be back later once I have made some payments!
Hi Buffy - love the username!! Would be great to have someone to do this with for motivating each other - will look forward to hearing back from you after you've made your plans. I do love a plan!!0 -

Day 1!
So its day one of my first 30 day challenge to rid myself of one creditor!! 30 days from now is 23rd April so not long really, but will give it a good try anyway!!
The Northern Rock account that I am aiming to have cleared has a balance of £1400.29. The fact that I got paid more than this in my March wages is making me more determined to have it paid off asap!! So the extra money in my wages is a bonys scheme that I get from work. I didn't anticipate receiving it until July as thats usually when it is paid out, so this has come at a brilliant time dor my debt busting!!
Have made the minimum payment today and will work out tonight how much extra I can pay from this months wages to make a bit of a dent.
So for day 1 of the challenge I have paid 4% of this account and have 96% still outstanding. Will post back later once I have done my sums!!
DAY 1 Progress = 4% Paid / 96% Outstanding0 -

Hi Dizzybee! Thanks for joining me, we seem to have similar amounts outstanding so it will be good to have someone to keep me motivated!! Good luck to you too, I will be back on later with hopefully some money raising ideas!!0 -
Brilliant idea. Good luck with clearing that amount. I will keep watching your diary to see how well you do with this.
