Name and shame the shops who lie about NUS discounts.

I've never had a problem getting discount in New Look, Claires, DP's, Evans or HMV with my NUS card.

The only time I thought there might be a problem at Hard Rock, I printed off the page first and took it with me - There was a problem as they didn't have the special student menu so they gave us 25% off anyway1:D

Print off the pages before you go shopping and then when they refuse, write their names down, inc manager and email the H/O and the NUS.

I personally have been given a discount at PcWorld with my student card. If you have a problem get the manager and make sure u dont leave without the discount.

Not been in this situation myself yet, but I know if I was entilied to student discount I wouldn't buy something unless I received it! If they refuse to give you discount then definately ask to see the store manager, and get them to verify with head office if needed be. If they still refuse then surely that is false advertising, and they could get severly penilised.

Clares and Pizza Hut aren't actually listed on the NUS website.

I have got discount in the Claires in Leamington though.

Never got discount at Claire's Accessories (in Darlington).
Had a quick look on their website and can't see anything about discounts...

Worth emailing head office and asking?

Im not sure all stores country wide are offering the discount, when i was a student i went to a DPs where there wasnt a local uni and there was no 10% discount sign in the window, when i asked they said they didnt offer it.

Im not saying this is right but if there is a website saying it check the small print as some franchises of certain stores dont have to offer all the discounts etc!

dorothy prekins should as the whole arcadia group offer student discount.

i've always got discount in new look from showing my card. and have printed off the blurb about dominos discount as i'm sure my shop will deny all knowledge of the discount!

I havent had problems with those shops either...u just need to ask them for the student discount.

Burtons also do 15% off and amazon 5%.
Burger King give 15%
McD's give free cheese burger/hamburger/ice cream...but some ones dont give any.
Pizza Hut is 20% Sunday to Thurs only.
DIdnt know about domino's but will def try that one out.
Top Man/Top shop, HMV, River Island etc all do it too.

I only got my NUS extra card last week...previous to that I never even showed my car. I would just show my uni ID card and they would give me the discount.
