Name and shame the shops who lie about NUS discounts.

After having been lied to in:

New Look, Dorothy Perkins, PC World and Claire's Accessories (Their staff have told me there is no nus extra discount, when there is), I am getting more than a little peaved.

I paid £10 for this card, and I am determined that I'm going to get the discount I am entitled to.

I have fired off complaints to the above companies, and was wondering if anyone else had had the same problem?

  • Uh, you should be asking for a student discount not nus extra... they wont know what you're talking about if you say that.

I took my NUS Extra (which doubles as an ISIC card) to Dominoes pizza. The ISIC website says a discount of 50% is available to ISIC card holders, yet the staff didn't have a clue and didn't give me the discount.

It also leaves you feeling like a bit of a t**t when you see on the card websites there's supposed to be a discount and they are adamant there isn't.

I said a student discount, and they said they didn't give discounts to students. I showed them the card. They said no student discount. I don't really see how I could have been clearer.

Can you not print out the part of the website that shows which stores offer the discount and then show it the stores which refuse?

That is a very organised and sane idea.

  • PC World employe thick people that know nothing of computers, and have you noticed that the recipts the ink fades and disappears. So no warrentary claims if you go to the manufactor. PC World is in my bad books.
  • You could also contact your Students Union and conplain to them then send a email to NUS themselve and demend a full refund.

Not when your in the store asking. But still they'd probably say you faked it or something.
  • If you do want student discount you have to buy a cheap pc that costs you over £600 that dell will build one for you for £500 and you dont have to talk to thick PC World people.
