Maybelline mouse foundation is fantastic, it comes in a few very pale colours and doesn't attack the wallet too much either :)

I also have very pale skin and cannot second the Clinique recommendation; their foundations look OK when first put on but tend to look more orange later on in the day.

I've found Arbonne, Bobbi Brown and No7 to all be excellent in terms of colour.

    Hi,

If the foundation looked "orange" on your skin it was either too dark or was a "warm" tone when your skin may have a cool tone.

Most cosmetic counters will let you have a sample of a foundation to take home and try if you ask them. You'll need to see your skin in natural light.

I'm super pale (and cool toned - inside arms the skin is blue/pink rather than warm olive toned and I look better with silver/white gold than yellow gold jewellery) - I use Lily Lolo in porcelain and since this is a mineral powder I can build up coverage depending on my needs. Otherwise I'd suggest a tinted moisturiser rather than a heavy moisturiser as if you are not used to it you may feel a bit "caked" on if you go from nothing to full face make up.

    All the best. x

I am a very pale redhead....and use Nivea Visage Daily Essentials ( Natural shade) tinted moisturiser which gives a nice light, even coverage. I used various high end brands for years but would not go back now.

I use maybelline's dream matte mouse. I often find lighter foundations can look either quite cakey or powdery on fair skin , but the formula of the mousse is super light

I prefer the phrase "pale and interesting" (but I get "goth"! instead which I am not!!)

Found that Clinique had one shade which was available in the liquid form but even then it was still too dark for me. I have odd skin, its yellow based and not cool but warmer pales seem to always look orange, cooler shades look grey.

Aside from the suggestions I made on the last page, mixing two of the cheaper brands together can often help and (this is where being pale can be a godsend) mixing with a SPF cream can also help: those are very pale and some are purple pale! Takes some effort to get the right shade though.
