  • Hello.

You need the Blackberry specific internet bundle for £5.00 which includes the email and data, it's a substitute for the usual internet bundle. People think you need both, but you don't.

To clarify you only need BIS you'll get internet etc via it without BIS considering a Blackberry not a Blackberry! My BB broke yesterday due to my own fault and now have bought an HTC Desire HD if I don' like it I'll go back to a crackberry!

Now o2 won't let me switch my BB bolt on to a normal data bolt on which I find a bit odd as I'm already paying for the BB bolt on!

  • If not, then perhaps you should be looking at a phone plus connection service not SIM only.

As I understand it, the Blackberry works by passing all your data through computers at Blackberry HQ. They make the data smaller (compression) so the overall service works better for the user.

This service is specific to the Blackberry hence the special Blackberry internet tarrifs by operators.

It sounds like you need a visit to a multi-network phone shop to get the alternatives explained before deciding.

I can confirm that the BB compresses data very very well. I had a 2GB limit on my bold and it rarely dropped at all, even with quite heavy usage, now with the desire (with fortanetly an unlimited internet package) i have used nearly half a GB in 7 days! So i can definately say the BB does a very good job at data compression and this would mean you need a smaller monthly data allowance than on many other phones.
