Ok so i have a HTC HD2 Smartphone and i don't use all the apps and things on it so it's useless to me and i really want a blackberry but heres the thing...
I'm on a sim only contract with vodafone at the moment where i recieve 300 mins, unlimited texts and unlimited internet, if i was to get a blackberry i'm told i would have to pay an extra £5 a month for blackberry internet? Would i not be able to change the normal internet which i am already paying £5 a month for, for the blackberry internet or do i need both? Just £10 a month for internet seems abit steep, like to get bbm and things? Thanks samantha

Why do you want/need a blackberry. They have loads of apps that not many people use. Really more for office use than anything to be honest.0

You need both with Vodafone but my son has a £15 pm contract that has all you have + BB, so effectively the BB services are free.
As for the comment by krycek985, a Blackberry is currently a must have for under 21's.0 -

Its a mere observation that you mentioned your current phone having to many apps you dont use. Blackberry has loads that you may or may not use depending on what you need it for.0 -
You should only need the Blackberry bundle at £5 pm, you shouldn't need both, but I'd query it with your service provider0

as your sim only is a set amount of stuff if you want bb you need to add £5 for blackberry services (ie bbm, email) not for internet browse cause you can do it on bb without add on if you have the 'normal' internet use in your tariff
orrrrr you can change your sim only into bb sim only if it exist with vodafone0 -
Adding to this - but why give 500MB of data (like the Blackberry 02 deal I am looking at) if you need to buy an extra £5ers worth of Blackberry data in addition? It doesn't make any sense unless I'm misunderstanding the whole thing? What use is the 500MB without the extra £5er?0

On my last BB i was paying in effect £5.00 per month for the BB add on and then another £5 a month (which was included in my contact price) for another GB of internet. I think i could have had just the internet included in my contract, but then would not have been able to use BB messanger etc.
This is partly why i decided to not upgrade to another BB, as i didnt use the BB services anywhere near enough to warrenty paying in effect £10.00 per month for them. Now have the HTC lol!0 -
The HD2 is nothing like the Desire HD, software wise.0

You remember a few months ago that news story about how RIM products were banned in (iirc) Indonesia?
That was all because the specific blackberry services (push email, etc..) run through RIM's own servers, and not (for want of a better term) the internet at large, where any old govt can mess about with it.
(well, I'm sure it must be possible, but it's not as easy otherwise everyone would do it).
It's done in-house, and incidentally, why several countries are unable to censor & otherwise monitor BB communications, hence the ban.
In theory, that's what you're paying for; They chose a model whereby they provide in-house networking, where they control & are responsible for the upkeep of the network, and they fund it via the famous blackberry tax.
When you connect to the larger internet using your network's data package, then as far as RIM/bb are concerned that's just you doing your own thing.
ps; I'm not a BB owner by the way, I've used them, but tbh I'm not too keen on them, too restrictive like iPhones imo.0
