My niece will be 20 in December and is a lovely person but a nightmare to buy for.
She is at university, very bookish & not into trendy music, clothes etc.
She works really hard and therefore I thought of giving her the following for her birthday:
A perfume set, but don't know what would appeal to her.
or
A nice faux fur throw (neutral colour) hot water bottle with faux fur cover and a big box of chocs.
Any other ideas appreciated.
For xmas I've got;
A totes nightshirt and socks
Pampering bath set
A Wh smith £10 voucher for her to get a good book
A mug and hot choc.
Put all of the above together in a hamper.
It has been a long time since I was 20 so ideas please!

I too have a 20 year old away at uni and she has 'hinted' that she would like a nice snuggly dressing gown for Christmas. Bought a lovely one in Primark for £10. The throw is an excellent idea. Bought my daughter one when she left for uni and because she is on a budget and doesn't like putting the heating on for very long she can wrap it round herself while she is studying.0

Something like a throw, cushions etc would be great and well received i'm sure
When i was at uni (not long ago, im 23!) anything that could be used to make the place a bit more 'homey' was lovely. Candles etc are cheap, or maybe nice pictureframes(s)?
Perfume is a difficult one as it's so much down to personal taste.0 -
I'm in my late 20's now and I have had the same (fake) fur throw for 5 years and love it and treat it like a grown up comfort blanket, I really think it is a fab idea as are all of them, how lucky is she!0

I'm 22 and when I was 19 by Aunt got me a lovely warm throw for at uni and it became probably my most used pressie. It's definately a great idea and I'm sure she'll love it.0

Thanks all, I just didn't want my ideas to be OLD. If I ask my 12year old what she think she looks at me and I see "sad" written on her head.
I just thought the faux fur throw was a good idea as can be used at uni, at home etc.choccies, a girl can never have too many!
Any other ideas appreciated. I like to spend (or look as though I've spent £45) for b'day & xmas as my sister, her mum buys for 3 of my dd's and I only buy for one.
Now need to find a nice but cheap throw!0 -
Your list was fab, that's just what I sent my daughter to uni with last year, in fact I remember her ringing me this time last year saying how cold it was, so off to primark I went, fluffy socks, nighty, pj's, fur throws/blankets the lot all sent via the royal mail, with a big label saying a hug from home, she burst into tears when she opened it.
You can't go better than that - leave out the perfume though.
Primark is your best bet for most of it if there is one near you, if not try TX Maxx or even Argos for the throw.0 -

Primark have a lovely throw for £15!
Dressing gowns for £10 and fluffy slipper socks for £2!
They also have hot water bottles with cute covers for about £3 or £4."This site is addictive!"
Wooligan 2 squares for smoky - 3 squares for HTA
Preemie hats - 2.0 -
I'm 24 and would suggest the throw idea

Perfume is a lovely gift but its so easy to get it wrong - and theres nothing nicer than snuggling under a warm throw reading a book. I'm sure she will appreciate it.The early bird gets the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese :cool:0
