Shame on you BA :mad:0 -
My wife gets more companies and larger discounts as an NHS nurse than I do being in the Forces.0

Interesting points raised, and i have certainly noticed that our "discount" seems to be the same as or less than students etc...
As for the rail discount, although it's not unique, the cost of it (£15 for the card) and the discount you get is well worth it. I make my £15 back in 2 journeys, and i use it almost every weekend.
I went to Wickes in Lincoln the other week after a mate told me that they do MOD discount (10%). Went to the till with what i needed and asked them about it. I was told to keep it a little quiet as the civilian population feel they are being discriminated against because they don't get a discount!!
I couldn't help but laugh......Sad, but true!!0 -
Must admit, anecdotally, that I've heard similar things, in the end, it's always worth asking.
I took my son to the Cinema last Wednesday, the lady was really nice trying to get us discounts as we aren't Orange customers lol Anyway, she gave my son a teenagers ticket that we didn't know about, but couldn't think of a way to get me a discount, I jokingly said I was a pensioner.... Which shocked her as I'm 45, but showed her my war pensioners ID and she smiled and gave me an OAP ticket!!!! Still, every penny helps.Opinions are like bottoms - We all have one, just some stink more than others
Service Attributable Pension - War Pension - War Pensioners Unemployability Supplement - War Pensioners Invalidity Allowance - War Pensioners Comforts Allowance - War Pensioners Mobility Allowance - War Pensioners Child Allowance - Housing Benefit - Council Tax Benefit0 -
Yet another. APH the car parking people for airports "offer" a 10% discount to military. Had a go with and then without the code...guess what? Cheaper without..SHAMEFUL.0

They don't publicise it for some reason?
Ring up SPVA and ask for one, I was med discharged in 93, only got mine in 2008, there are 160,000 or so War pensioners, my ID Card no is lower than 1850!!! So shows how much they want to issue them.
Get the TFL Oyster card to if you ever go to London, mine is valid til May 2012 and have had it a few years, so well worth getting even if you rarely go up to the smokeOpinions are like bottoms - We all have one, just some stink more than others

Not in the forces myself, but it annoys me that my company dont allow free travel for forces personnel, at least while traveling from the airport to the base they are sent too, i work for a coach company, or free travel on local services if traveling to the base, police officers get free travel if they show their warrant card or badge, and even traffic wardens (private companies included) get free travel on local services, guess it shows that booking someone for parking illegally is deemed more important than serving your country.Thankyou Sir Alex for 26 years0

Traffic wardens get free local travel? Mind you they probably get more grief "in the line of duty" than my husband does when he deploys .. ha ha
In all seriousness though, this does get on my nerves when the discount is more expensive than the normal price.0
