Incorrectly priced items on website

I purchased some goods on-line yesterday at a special offer price. My debit card was charged and I received an Confirmation email with an invoice confirming the price and delivery details.
Today I have received an email from the company advising that the price was incorrect and my card has been refunded. They have offered me a 15% discount on any new order as a goodwill gesture.
Can they do this ?
I have read the terms and conditions on their website and it says that the price on an order needs to be validated as part of their acceptance procedure. However it then states that once order is accepted an electronic confirmation will be sent which has been done in this case.
If anyone can advise whether I have any rights in this case, I would appreciate it.

Quick answer. They do not have to sell at incorrect price.
Just do a search on the subject. There are dozens of similar threads on this site alone.

I think its been cropping up here on MSE regularly and recently that it depends when the contract is formed.
I believe one group successfully managed to get something at the incorrect price as contract was formed on confirmation email. However most companies say the contract is formed on dispatch. So its really a case of what their T&C's say.You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
Can you link to the company's website please so we can see their T&CsOne important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0

Why is it that when you never get any details that you know that the purchaser thnks they have got one over on the retailer. If it looks too good to be true it probably is! Then they lookto see if they can get the goods at the lower price.Hmmmmmm. People needto be more circumspect.0

Perhaps a little harsh?
Personally i dont know what the "going" price is for items unless i buy them regularly. For instance, if i am looking to buy a tv.....of course i'm going to do research on what models are availble, what prices are currently etc. I dont buy tv's often, not even yearly. But even in the space of 1-2 years prices can vary wildly. They are constantly dropping in price. For the price i paid for my 42" rear projection old tv, i could easily get a top of the range 50" 3d TV.
Now if i see a good deal for a tv, my expectations would vary depending on the "error" in the price. I see a 32" tv at £1, yes i'd expect for it to be a mistake. However if i see the same tv at £180, i would expect that price to have more chance of being the correct price and possibly just a reduction to get rid of the last of that line. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
After a chat with Consumer Rights I have given up getting the goods at the price advertised as I was advised that contract only becomes legal at point of despatch. However I have tried to post a link to the Ts & Cs from the company concerned for Halibut to have a look but as a new user, the forum won't let me ?? If anyone wants to have a look and post the link, the company is Vet UK.
And to sheerdelight, no I didnt think I was getting one over on the company. I thought I was buying goods at a reduced price as they were very close to expiry date.0
