i've never been near one when it has been lit. but the ones i've seen in peoples gardens do look nice.
but i'm still torn between one of these and a fire pit.
We have one and love it but you really have to sit in front of it. If you have e few people round, the fire pit is more practical as you can all sit around it0 -
Loving the idea of a chimnea and a glass of wine in hand in the summer. I've been toying with the idea of buying a small one to go on my patio.
And - I must remember this is a moneySAVINGsite - Tesco have a rocking chair and the visions of sitting on a rocking chair, with chimnea, with large glass of wine sounds very good to me.0 -
aHHH, Forgot go mention mine is a cast iron one which is open on all sides so ALL can appreciate the heat of the seasoned wood!0

right then.
i'm single and live on my own. i dont tend to have a large amount of people round so at the most there is likely to be 4/5 but more often than not just myself.
my patio is about 15ft by 10ft.
i spend alot of time sat outside in the summer months, and would like to be able to stay outside later in the evenings hence the idea of buying a chiminea.
so do i go for a fire pit or a chiminea?
the 2 i have seen are both around the same price.SPC 0370 -
i have decided to go for this.

it will look great in the corner of my patio near my table and chairs.SPC 0370 -
As it's going to be yourself using it mainly, that is fine. If one were to use mainly for social gatherings, I'd suggest an 'open all sides' for those that read this and are considering one.
Nice one, you'll enjoy it!0 -
i did consider an open all sides one. but a few reviews for one in argos said that if there was a gust of wind the smoke and ash tends to blow out and possibly into peoples faces.
so that put me off.SPC 0370 -

I have that one and it really does give off the heat. If you are proud about your lawn, you may not want to put it on the grass as it does leave scorch marks.0
