I think it's just a case of chalking it down to experience, biting the bullet, and paying the man.

I do consider myself 'lucky' thankyou. Thank heavens I was not involved in an accident! I actually posted this for advise and help, not castigation!!!:(

Well if you consider yourself 'lucky' what grounds of appeal do you think you have?

Well don't you check your bank statements? Your renewal notice would have stated how much you had to pay for the following year and you must have known that you don't have insurance if you haven't paid for it.

For your information, I do check my bank statements, but not with a fine tooth comb! The payments were made over a ten month period hence ending in October last year! I have the memory of a sieve at times, with running a house, bringing up children and working! So apologies for not being on the ball! Thanks again for the castigation! An error on my part! I have always abided by the law, I am not after sympathy nor sarcastic castigation! Just advise as to points being appealed against due to rise in a policy! Perhaps I should just give up my job, claim benefits, start smoking and drinking and then I might have an excuse!!!!!!!!!!!

Probably not a good idea. The unemployed generally pay more for car insurance.

I did inform them, yes. Am a law abiding citizen, and am normally incredibly organised with things like this!
I'm surprised you're still breathing after finding out what your premium will be with an IN10.

  • You might find the premiums are not too bad. A friend of mine has 9 points on her license, all for speeding and said it did not go up much until she had 9 points, and then it shot up.

Good luck, though I think you just have to accept this.

I don't think it just goes on the number of points though, it's more to do with what the points are for. Car insurers take a very dim view of IN10s, for obvious reasons.

Hope all the anti auto-renewal brigade are reading this thread.

    Certainly am.
Even more reason to scrap it.

It would be far better if everyone knew they had to renew, and did it themselves.
This is a company that sent out a pseudo auto renew, and further messed someone up.

    EVERYONE does auto-renewal or NO-ONE does auto-renewal.

The bit in the middle is the killer!
