Plant identification and pest help

We moved into our house last August and we have one of those little trees in the middle of our lawn too! Handy that the previous owners left the label on it - it's a Prunus. Label says that it's full height is 175cm, so we have decided to let it stay where it is. It's very pretty, especially at the moment, covered in blossom. Our cat has started using it as a scratching post, so the bottom of it is looking a bit ragged!0

is bottom right lily of the valley bush? Not sure on technical term. I have one and leaves have similar discoloration?0

Yes, paeony, prunus of some sort, and viburnum tinus, which looks to me as if it has shot hole disease, rather than pests eating it. I think the treatment is Bordeaux mixture or fungicide containing copper.
I had a viburnum that had it, every year all the leaves ended up like lace, so in the end I dug it out and got rid of it.
:) If I'm over the hill, where was the top?0 -
If it is a viburnum it might be viburnum beetle : http://www.telegraph.co.uk/gardening/gardeningadvice/helen-yemm/7903095/How-to-control-viburnum-beetles-Helen-Yemm.html
apparently now the top pest/disease for the RHS enquiry serviceJust call me Nodwah the thread killer0 -
Oh dear, there are absolutely loads of holes all over it-the shot I gave was probably one of the better areas having had another look at it. I will have a good look online and see if it can be saved. Thanks everyone-I wanted to post a few more pics of plants today but I have just had to bring the cat in after he had cornered a mouse in the garden; so I don't want to go out and disturb the mouse whilst it looks for its home!0

You are spot on with that. I was one of the 'lucky' people who got it first, but it hasn't followed me the 100 miles down the M5 to my new place:D......yet!
(Edit: It wasn't too bad to deal with, once I knew what it was, and they didn't come back.)0 -
Hi again, I wondered if you would all help with some more-this way I can find out how to care for all of these plants properly!

I think this could be a weed, its all over the garden!

The first is kerria japonica (batchelor buttons)

next might be oxalis weed (wood sorrel), although i may be wrong on that
http://apps.rhs.org.uk/advicesearch/profile.aspx?pid=498
then bergenia (elephant ears)
http://www.bbc.co.uk/gardening/plants/plant_finder/plant_pages/4126.shtml
and the last a hardy geranium

1. Peony
2. Flowering cherry possibly Prunus incisa
3. Viburnum tinus
4. Kerria japonica 'Pleniflora;
5. I think Corydalis flexuosa - need a closer photo/flower
6. Begenia probably cordifolia
7. Some kind of geranium
The viburnum beetle seems to everywhere this year. Looks like frost damage as well.0 -
Wow, you're all amazing with your gardening knowledge-how did you both learn so much? I will take a closer picture of the potential weed tomorrow, there are so many seedlings of it that even if it's not a weed it's becoming a bit of a problem.
Thanks guys0
