I can't say this with absolute certainty but I don't think she's allowed to "harrass" you or your OH like that...how long have you been off sick if you don't mind me asking? & I take it you have actually been signed off by your doctor & thus your employer should have certificates to show this?
Depending on how long you've been off you do need to speak to your employer about when/how you intend to return to work. For example if you've only been off a couple of weeks, it's far too soon for your employer to be pushing for that, however if you've been off for a year now your employer has a right to be updated on your progress & if they can continue your employment or if they need to replace you. Not a nice thing I know but you have to think of it from their point of view as well if you're likely to be off for another year for example.
Hiya
Ive been off 2 weeks and due back in monday. I have a sick note from GP which states work related stress on it, have given them that. When she saw OH yesterday she said to him she 'wouldnt want to have to call in occupational health at this stage' but I would be quite happy, she needs to listen to someone and someone needs to listen to me when I say that its not possible to carry on under the conditions I have been. The day I went off sick she told me that they wouldnt stand for any long term sick. Mind you she also told be I am 'irrational and clearly very ill' right after she told me she had given my colleague more hours even though she had promised them to me0 -

Today I have:
Just wondering if anyone knows....I am off sick with work related stress at the mo but my manager keeps ringing and leaving messages asking me what I am intending to do and that I need to make a decision now and tell her. Its really stressing me out, I want her to leave me alone this week to try and let things settle! I was under the impression that she wasnt allowed to contact me while I am off sick? My OH works at the same place and she wont leave him alone either, which also causes me stress(Doesnt help that manager has decided my GP has no idea and that I am not suffering with stress, she thinks depression even though I, my OH and GP have all said absolutely not).
Hi cloesmum - I haven't read ppl's responses so forgive me if I'm repeating what other's have said (also I'm coming from the manager's perspective so please don't shoot me!) - ok firstly your manager has to follow the procedures that the company is telling them to do - we have a whole drive to drive down sickness so someone contact me & was signed off with tonsilitis and I still have to say "what are you symptoms"!?! - anyway so if you haven't already agreed a time when you will next speak then she is entitled to call you to establish it. I'd deal with it by giving her/him a call and saying I have been signed off until the Friday 8 March. I will contact you on the 8th before 12pm to keep you updated, if I feel better before then I will go to my GP & get a fit for work certificate and give you a call. Then make sure you do call, if you are singed off again do exactly the same but giving clear info on when you will be in contact again. Its a grey area as I can go round to people's houses to enquire as to how they are. Contact ACAS for legal employment rights, contact HR if these guidelines are being breached. You probably would be invited for an Occy health report...

Not much that's very exciting to report....- Took lunch to work
- Walked dog in park
- Withdrew just £10 using Post Office cashpoint (Doesn't charge)
- Spent £3.90 on fruit (still on a diet)
- Checked banks
- Quick tidy round
- Stay in tonight
- Maybe do an hours school work later?
- Tea from stores - jacket potato, beans and cheese
- Look for some cheap, diet friendly recipes on the internet later (bored with food)

Hi Cleos mum,
i know a few people have already replied to your question but i used to manage a small shop and as far as i was aware, althoug policys do vary from place to place, that there is nothing to stop your manager from contacting you, however it sounds a little harassing and she has no right to ask your OH about you. Also it is not up to her to diagnose you, she doesnt know how you feel.
As long as you have informed her that you are going to be off, you do have to give an intended date of return and if this is over 5 working days then you have to get a doctors note. my old place asked that we rang in every day or two to update on the situation.

I know I've given up smoking - which is good - however, it has increased my tendancy to snack
When I gave up , all those years ago , I used to suck a lolly when I would have normally had a smoke, and it stopped me eating some thing bigger , this kept my hands busy aswell as killed the food hunger . Might work for you.
Today my list was :
Washing done & out at 8.30 ,
Refelted shed roof as its such a nice day ,
Carpet the garden (weed suppressor)
Checked veg patch, nothing planted yet. Needs raking/firming ect.
Visited Tip with old roof , and other rubbish and clutter .
Ate lunch in the sunshine looking at refelted shed , nearly nodded off it was so nice out.
Checked for surveys , and got excluded from them like normal.
Daily clicked.
Entered Comp or two.
Still To Do
Try to Re jig CV
Look on Freecycle to see if someone still wants some old bricks
Eat an apple. ( must eat more fruit).
Add recipies I printed off to folder.
Thats it , off to eat that appleMember of change Pip's name back to PIP club
:jI've only blooming got my name on it :j0
