I've never paid more that £220 for mine, and I only shop around when I need to.

If you shopped around you might cut the cost by half . . . MSE and all that
Wow, you've singularly failed to understand my point on a massive scale.

I don't believe what anyone else says they pay for car insurance. Cheap insurance ends up costing money.

So either you started driving late in life, or you got your first job at 9?
(Or you're using your own numbers again?)
Congratulations. That's right. Not everyone starts driving at the age of seventeen. Are you assuming things again? It looks like it.

Anyway, back to my question. How long have you worked in the insurance industry?

Is there any point to this thread ? The OP states they've got a great deal on insurance and refuses to say how or who with ? Very informative and helpful to others....

The Insurance section of this forum is a very dark place. It's full of 'industry experts', disgruntled customers, sniping, trolls and people out to 'get one over' on each other. Maybe that just relects the insurance industry ?

Why do you assume I need to work in insurance to post on a moneysaving website?

Indeed you prove the conflict of interest can be too much.

I think most people who read your postings know you have a bias, and are keen for other posters to let the industry get away with a few bad and even illegal practices that make the insurers a bit more money. You are very keen to discourage people not to shop around for decent insurance at a better price.

There are other posters on here who also work in insurance, some also appear to have your view, and appear to be of the opinion that things should never change, keep paying, say nothing, never complain .

Others offer very helpful advice, advise customers correctly on their rights, and offer an acceptable view of how to deal with insurance companies.

If you genuinely don't like the thought of money saving on insurance, and paying a fair price for a decent product, maybe you're not posting on the right forum, and should leave it to those who don’t mind offering decent money saving advice?

Last year my insurance was £210, this renewal it was £270.
I am now insured with their sister company, exactly the same cover and same policy document with a different picture on the cover. As a new customer £210 with £60 Quidco = £150.

I have usually been happy with all of my different insurers over the years but buy 2 get 1 free seems a better way to shop.

I'm sure it simply reflects society.

Where does it say I have a great deal on insurance? Just because you seem to have failed to see the point of this thread, doesn't mean there isn't one. You're the same person who thought I was in some way attempting to earn commission, aren't you?

    Fail.

The point of this thread is that someone can be perfectly happy with their insurance without wasting countless hours saving a pittance at the expense of something that could end up being worse.

I'm all for money saving and giving advice about insurance. I don't think that the two necessarily go hand-in-hand.

I don't normally go into details about the cost of my car insurance, but you just happened to mention yours. Just pointing out I pay about half that you said you pay.

It's not cheap insurance, it's a fully comprehensive specialised policy and because of this I haven't been able to shop around for the past few years. You don't have to believe me . . . I don't care:rotfl:

Nice one Quote. This section of the forum never fails to make me smile. I love it how random figures are tossed around, and how you can half insurance quotes by threatening to shop elsewhere.

Comments such as "I pay half what you do" are meaningless IMO. Everybody has a different risk profile and you can only compare like with like.

If you look at the young driver threads you will see many individuals searching for weeks trying to get quotes down below £3k+ for a low group car because somebody else has -and then we find out they have a Manchester or similar high postcode, so they are being quoted the correct premium for the risk compared to similar!

At the end of the day, it is up to the individual to make an informed decision by reviewing the cover they are purchasing and possibly also reviewing the comments on customer service etc.
