I assume your point then is the cost doesn't matter to you, you will pay any price, but you have been happy with the service so far.

I prefer to balance one against the other, I'm happy with the service so far, but I keep the cost in view.

Other posters on here certainly haven't been as lucky as us.

What you imagine to be my point isn't my point at all. I'll pay what I'm happy and what I can afford to pay for what I perceive as the best I can afford.

You advocate cheapening insurance. I don't. You promote shopping around. I'm saying that shopping around isn't always the solution - whatever the problem is.

That's not what you said though.

You assume they're the best, as you have been treated well.
Fair enough, but as you have never been elsewhere, you've no idea how others would treat you. They could be worse, or better.

You have never searched around for car insurance, so you have no idea how the price compares to others. You may have the dearest, you may be lucky and have the cheapest. However as you have stated you have never compared it, price doesn't matter to you.

I have never advocated cheapening insurance. I advocate fair practice, I advocate customer rights, and I advocate complaining to the official body when insurers aren't fair.
If a company wants to appear to be the cheapest, they can do. What they can't do is try to claw in profits illegaly later.

Affordability matters more than price to me.

I should say that it's not that I haven't used comparison sites, I have. But I don't relentlessly use them every year. I don't really want to get into a "you said" discussion, but at no point have I assumed they're the best, although I have a pretty good idea that they're among the best - certainly more of an idea than you.

It sounds like you're assuming a lot more than I am.

    Just not a consistent idea.

I've worked in insurance for twenty years. That's where my experience of insurers comes from. How many years have you worked in insurance for, mikey? Let me guess. Is it none? Is your sole experience of insurers having to insure one or two cars and a house a year?

    That didn't really need saying.

So either you started driving late in life, or you got your first job at 9?

I've always paid between around £300 to £450 for my insurance.

I've never paid more that £220 for mine, and I only shop around when I need to.

If you shopped around you might cut the cost by half . . . MSE and all that
