Similar thing happened to me. It turned out my aunty had bought a new mobile, programmed my phone no. then accidentally pressed it without realising. A messaging service kept alerting me without my aunty realising that her phone was trying to contact me. In the end I found out what phone company it was and they sorted it out (my phone company couldnt do anything about it without blocking the no.). Has anyone you know recently bought a new phone?

Are you scared? Are you hiding from anybody?

Answer the call at tell them to **** off.
Apparently they are calling 'on behalf' (I am really missing the sarcastic smiley) of O2 and will try to sell you some contract.

It's a known telemarketing pest. Ignore, or if your phone is a smartphone you can probably download an app to block specific numbers.

Even many years ago many phones had 'white' and/or 'black' list option. Don't know about the modern phones. They may have loads of rubbish and no space left for really useful stuff.

I love my smartphone. But not as a phone. Definitely agree the older models do a better job just as a phone. But I love google maps and barcode scanning and angry birds and loads of other apps. I carry both.

Another "S" annoys LBM for a nice change:
After missing a number of calls from 0800 0641087 I finally managed to answer a call from these people saying they are calling on behalf of O2 regarding my contract. I pointed out I have nothing to do with O2 (seeing as i'm with T-Mobile) and quoted the data protection act to have my details removed from their systems and receive no further calls. A very grumpy "fine" from the gentleman and the other end and then he hung up. So lets see if i get any further calls.
R" gets a call from what appears to be LBM on behalf of O2:
I received a suspect and very pushy call today from an otherwise
charming-sounding Irish guy. I declined to commit to any of o2's
'money-saving offers' and googled the source phone number's dialling and
local codes with the word 'o2'. I was glad to find a resource such as your
site with details of how to unsubscribe from the company's calling list.

Businesses such as this direct marketing company really are a drain on the
economy! N.B. The particular number was 0800 064 1087. Thanks!

    Looks like it is o2.

OP, you mention you are hiding from a violent ex, have you tried maybe getting a heavy voiced man answer with "Police (omit to the title which suits) headquaters how can I help?" and seeing what happens. Then ending with "if you call this number again immediate legal action will be taken and you could risk a court appearance and later criminal record for harassment". I know pretending to be a police person is not allowed but its what I would do right or wrong!

If I get a number call me I just put the number into google then call them back and tell them not to call me again or I will take further action. Normally works. I live in London, public transport and very nasty people are everywhere and really can upset and wind me up, I normally make these calls when I am home early enough, I pitty the person on the end of the phone even if they have been making repeated harassment silent calls!
