I have to side with the navman i think. You can also buy the traffic master plug in, this seems to work very well and its a one off cost (£69 incl vat and delivery). The tomtom uses software you purchase but have to pay a monthly subscription. I had a free trial when i bought a tomtom and was not imressed at all.0 -
I purchased the navman f20 a couple of months ago and am very very impressed with it. I get an almost immediate satellite signal from when i switch the navman on. Also, this has speed camera detection software already pre-loaded and pre-loaded uk & ireland maps. It is very simple to use, 3.5" touch screen and also recharges itself whilst plugged into the cigarette lighter adaptor in your car so you can use it outside of the car!!! If anyone's looking for any ratings i certainly give this produt 4/5!! fantastic value for money

Noticed in local PC World today, that Navman F20 was also available for £150; but better yet buy a PC or laptop for at least £300 and you can have the sat nav for just £99.
(Now just need somebody I know who wants a PC/laptop from PC World, of all places!)0 -

I am looking for the USA maps for the Navman F20- does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks0 -
I used the Garmin i3 for about a year, and then switched to the Navman F20 because I got it for £99 (a misprice). Overall, I probably prefer the Navman F20 because of the very quick satellite reception and re-routing compared to the i3. However, there are some annoying problems relative to the i3:
PROS:
very fast satellite reception, touch screen, easy buttons, fast re-route
CONS:
#1 you need to enter the area to select a POI, you can't just enter the name (so if you want to go to Gatwick Airport, you can't just enter Gatwick Airport, you need to first enter London, then Gatwick Airport). This may not seem a big deal, but it is very annoying for how I use it.
#2 it doesn't save your preferences when you change the display. The default is to show you your speed limit as you drive, but I like to see the ETA instead. You can change it to show ETA, but next time you power off the device, it goes back to the default
speed cameras it warns you in radius instead of on your road, even if there's a speed camera 500 feet down a side road you aren't on, it will warn you. it doesn't tell you what the speed limit is though for the speed camera, you can only set a speed to warn you when you are exceeding it anywhere (e.g. 70mph)
The annoyances are large after having used the i3, but the fast satellite reception and reroutes still let it win over. However, I'd probably choose the i3 for £99 rather than the F20 for £149...0 -
This is also for sale on the John Lewis website for £149 with free delivery, and there's a valid code for £15 off a £75 spend on the vouchers board, bringing it down to £134 delivered :beer:0
