It hardly matters from where you buy as price is same everywhere.
However, when you buy from retailers (eg. PC World etc.) they take some commission (ie retailer's profit) out of the price. But if you buy from Apple direct, they make a profit on that. So theoretically Apple should offer a cheaper price if you buy from them but they don't.Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.0 -
Apple strangles competition, so it's the same price everywhere. If you buy direct from Apple you can get the free engraving, and probably better custoemr service if you have to return it for any reason. Avoid PC World/Dixons like the plaguepoppy100

Nowhere seems to have any stock at the moment (round where I live anyhow) so I went on to the Apple Store to order one (and understanding it might take 4 weeks or more for delivery). However, I checked with one of the online reps first, and it would seem if you order thru Apple, your credit card will be charged when you place the order - and their T&C's explicitly state that they are not bound by their own estimates (so in other words you could end up paying for your iPad2 at least 1 month - and possibly longer - before you receive one). Hence I think I will wait for the furore to calm down a bit...0

I've bought one with the sole purpose of selling it on, I've seen some go for ridiculous amounts on ebay

I went into town yesterday just after 4pm and noticed that the queue at KRCS wasn't very long and got one. When I got to the till they only had a few left. They said they expected more in middle of the week so those left in the queue had the option to pay a deposit to reserve one.0

Lol, thank you for the concern, but I genuinely have no intention of keeping it, I haven't even taken the plastic seal off of the box!
I got paid an extra £500 in overtime this month, so I bought the iPad with it, so I'm not down any money. People are currently paying £100 over the RRP for them, as I would imagine in real terms they won't be back in for another month or so.
My OH is the manager of our local Apple retailer. If I don't sell it at a profit then I will get a refund and therefore be back in the same position I was in beforehand.0 -
ordered from PC world in the end, have sent me an email saying my product is being prepared for delivery.
Have never ordered from PC world. Any experienced PCW buyers know how long after you get this email do you normally get delivery?0 -
No-one's mentioned cashback yet! Surely that's going to sweeten the deal.
Assuming you have to have one... which we apparently do
My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0
