Or for once come up with a suitable cheaper alternative to CarGiant, nobody has so far.

This is MSE, where the forum is for sharing moneysaving tips, my tip is CarGiant, what are yours??????

There are a sea of alternatives out there - every car dealer in the UK is an alternative. Its a matter of checking out the best deals and comparing like with like and then seeing whos best - NOT just blindly assuming CG offer the best deal.

Shopping at CG is NOT a money saving tip. Its an option. And an option we are all aware of.

I hate to point out, but their sticker prices are much better than other dealers, I don't research every car, but whenever I have bought there, I have compared similar cars in the main dealer network and independant dealers.

My wifes Clio was up for £5699, so £5790 including admin charge.

Local, as in Renault London on the A40, had similar cars up for around £8000, less if you went for non metallic paint and no Aircon, both options that the wifes Clio has.

Independants where in the ballpark of £7000, some at £6995, some at £7250.

I did manage to link to a car identical, even down to the first four digits of the reg no, to the wifes that is for sale on Autotrader, with 2000 less miles on it now for £5200, or it may be £5250 would have to check again.

So we paid £5790 in Nov '09, and an almost identical car is up for £5200 in Mar '11 at a dealer.

If you think I got a bad deal the I don't know what you think would be a good deal.

I went to Manhiem Colchester at the time and could only find petrol Clios, they where selling for around £4500-£4700, all direct from Renault UK. Obviously you would need to add buyers fees etc, so they would probably be just over £5000.

If you still think I got a bad deal then please point me in a direction of somebody cheaper.

Why is it so difficult for some people to think that somebody would recommend a dealer because they seem happy with the prices and service given.

Seriously I think some people just don't want anybody to save money.

And I have never siad they are the best option for everybody, but when ever I link to a car that may fit the bill I get accused of working there by Inactive and his merrymen.

I don't, but don't see what difference that would make.

I haven't lied or misrepresented anything, thew cars are well priced in my opinion, certainly as close to auction or private sale prices as you will get at a dealer, with the safety net of buying from a proper dealer.

Yes they may sell cars that break down, the first one I bought there did break down, but they fixed it, no discussion, no argument, I thought that was decent service, sorry if that offends anybody, only my opinion.

But, I have read some of the comments that others have linked to, and seriously the complaints they had were, in most instances, spurious to say the least. In other words the kind of customer that nobody can please, as they want Lexus customer service but can't accept they can't afford it.

We have been through all of the reasons for not using this outfit, over and over, but you still insist on ruining threads with their spam.

Give it a rest, I am sure I am not the only member that is sick of reading the same old twaddle about them.

Link to the other option then..........

All I remember was a link to the kind of opinionated morons that no nothing about anything, seriously one of the complaints you linked to somebody that was moaning because the parcel shelf that wasn't there when they viewed the car wasn't there when the picked up the car, did they think it would grow another.

Feel free to go to a main dealer where I have shown my wifes Clio would have been £2000 more expensive.

Since you don't and have never probably owned a car, why are you always posting in this section.

All your opinions are backed up by unsubstantiated internet rumour.

When somebody can back up their opinion with fact you get the !!!!.

What does that say about you and your opinion.

You can't back up your iopinion with facts and figures so you resort to abuse and thread ruining.

SPAM is useless advertising, using something as an example to reinforce an opinion is not SPAM.

    Is this confusing for you.

You need to think a bit more before posting insults, otherwise they don't work properly.

Is it SPAM if somebody asks for a price on brake pads and I post a link with prices for their car on here, even if it is from my preferred internet site for brakes "buypartsby".

No, SPAM, is when you post up a blatant advert for the company you work for.

Therefore I can only be accused of SPAMMING the NHS, whoops, naughty me, I have been spamming to get extra work for an organisation that is nonprofit and free at the point of treatment.

Not much good, non profit spamming, is it?:rotfl:

    I didn't post any insults.

You may not work for CG, but you may well still have financial involvement, by the amount of SPAMMING that you give them, that would not surprise me.

I can't believe yet another thread is being hijacked by adverts for cargiant and irrelevant information about a Renault Clio. Isn't the one you started for that purpose enough?

    to drag this back OT...

I believe there is now a requirement for dealers to disclose a cat d t the point of sale but this is a fairly recent requirement and I don't think applied 4 years ago.

That being the case your only option is to re-read all the documents you got at the time and see if you can find anything that says it's HPI clear

As above. I'm sure all dealerships should be disclosing this information. If the car has been fine you could well ask for the difference in the valuations as cat D will knock a fair bit off the price really.

I would suggest that given the car you it might have had some serious damage to be fixed but it seems to have been done ok if you haven't noticved any issues...

I'd be tempted to face them down and see what they can suggest in the first instance. Do you know what the advert said? If it was HPi clear etc then you have a good reason for comeback.

    5t.
