KLM versus Delta Airline; Manchester to New York

Hi there, I am looking at flying to NY and the cheapest (though still expensive!) flights are coming up at the same price with Delta or KLM, I do understand that the Companies are connected, but is there any reason to book with one rather than the other?
Also, if I book through Ebookers (so I can use topcashback) can I still claim airmiles, or is that only when you book direct through the airline's website?
Thank you in anticipation

In these situations it's best to check if the flights advertised are codeshares (very likely) and if so, who is actually operating them.
If KLM and Delta are in fact both operating the route themselves, comfort will be superior with KLM.
What dates are you going? I did a quick search myself and the cheapest prices I found for some random dates summer were via London, sold by Iberia but operated by BA mainly.0 -
We used Delta in the past really pleased with them. Kept waking you up to give you stuff0

Hi, we are going very soon (April 16th-22nd) we are unfortunately very rigid with dates, so flights are not a friendly price (£650pp)
I am really sorry, I don't know what you mean by 'codeshares', both are the same timing, so it is the same plane, but I have no idea how to find out who's operating them
Thank you0 -

Cheapest I can see for those dates is BA flying via Heathrow (depart MAN at 19:25), which is £574 on lastminute. The transatlantic sector of the return leg is operated by AA.
If 19:25 is too late a departure, there are lots of other options with similar carrier/routing leaving around lunch in the £600 region.
What times were you looking at with KLM/Delta as it seems that all of the direct flights from MAN are operated by Delta, though you can get KLM via Amsterdam as well.0 -
April 16th depart MAN @ 11:05am – arrive JFK @ 13:55
April 22nd depart JFK @ 19:40 JFK – arrive MAN 08:10am (on the 23rd)0 -
Sorry, how do I find that flight you mentioned? Thank you0

Seems to come up as £579 now:

Edit: Actually that one's not a good idea as it means transferring between Gatwick and Heathrow. The £588 one just down the page is better.
Edit again - the £588 one unfortunately means an overnight stop at Heathrow so maybe that will be offputting.0 -

Another possible routing (courtesy of expedia) at £633: Out at 0850 with Aer Lingus to Shannon, change there for Delta to JFK, return on the same 1940 flight you were looking at before.
This can be brought down to £588 if on the return leg you flew 1455 with Delta Connection to Philadelphia, changed to Delta to Paris, changed to FlyBe back to Manchester but this might be getting into pain-in-the-!!!! territory.
BA is more comfortable but the flight times give you less time in NY, it's down to you what that is worth.0
