Brighthouse Question??

I bought a Samsung tv from Brighthouse in October 2010, I declined there Damage Liability cover and Optional Service Cover so I am just paying the £15.36 a week.

I have noticed that since I pucrhased the TV the price of it has gone down twice and if I was to buy it now it would be only £11.04 a week.

£4.32 a week for 156 week is £673.92 difference, which is quite a lot for the same product.

My question is as this is Hire Purchase agreement do I have any rights about getting my payment lowered or am I stuck paying the higher price for the same product?

I have asked in store 3 times now, twice after the fisrt price drop and again since the new one and keep being told they will look into it, and I never hear anything.

Any advice would be great.

Thanks for the quick reply, thought that would be the case.

The tv is around £1200 in currys, I know im paying over the odds but it was the best and most conveinient option for me at the time.

The problem is that TV's get cheaper as new models appear, but your finance is based on the price it would have cost when you took it. I also imagine the cost of administering the finance increases the price, but it was right for the OP's circumstances and an honest choice. Unless you can charm them into giving you a reduced rate out of goodwilll, my hunch is that you'll be stuck at your current rate.

  • Funnily enough I went down our local recycling shop yesterday and bought a 28" Sony CRT that works perfectly for £20... Still each to there own :)

If you have to shop at Brighthouse, should you really be buying a £1500 TV?

Nobody else has said it yet so I will...

How would the OP feel if the price had gone up instead of down and find Brighthouse requesting more money each week?

I simply cannot grasp the concept that paying well over double the cost price was ever the best and most convenient option.

All the brighthouse posts I have seen where people have stated the model numbers suggest BH sell the high street "cheap" models at extortunate mark ups as opposed to the top end of the market models.
