Tesco mobile

I'm currently an Orange PAYG customer, with an ancient handset and was thinking of treating myself to a new PAYG handset. I quite fancy the HTC Wildfire @ 179.99 +£10 top up, but have seen the handset on Tesco mobile for 149.97...(+earning clubcard points)

Are Tesco mobile any good? I've never had a problem with Orange... also on Orange I believe I'm on Dolphin so £10 top up = 100MB free internet which I've never really used on my existing handset- would be looking to use new handset for Facebook etc.; but I can't really see anything about Internet on the Tesco site ??

I've been with Tesco mobile for over 5 years now. I use P.A.Y.G. and have been very happy with the service Tesco provide. Take a look at http://www.tesco.com/mobilenetwork/ and it might help you decide.

    £149.97? Prices are dropping.

If you don't mind staying at Orange consider Orange San Francisco handset (can be unlocked for free if you want other network)

been with them for about 7 years or so never has a problem with coverage, if you see a phone cheaper with 02 tesco sims will work. tesco runs from 02 network anyway.

    Hi,
Been on Tesco for a few months now and found them to be really good.

Had to ring Customer Services a couple of times with a couple of queries and they are miles better than O2.

    Cheers

They have a shocking out of bundle data price though. £4 per MB!

Supposed to be going down to 60p though.

 Haha the Vodafone one is Out of stock- got them to email me when it comes back in

Does anyone have any advise re the data side of using a Smartphone; as I said I couldn't see any info about Tesco mobile's policy/ allowance apart from their triple credit offer?

I can see that Vodafone Freebies is the same as Orange i.e £10 top up = 300 free txts & 500MB

And I have also considered the Orange San Francisco handset - actually went into the shop last week to have a look where it was on a "Wow of the week" offer down to 79.99, when I asked a member of staff when the WEEKLY offer would expire he said "I Dunno, cuz the offers change all the time" ... wanted to know if it would still be on @ payday on Weds, but his unhelpfulness really put me off which is why I've been shopping around

Another vote for Tesco. Well actually 4 votes as the whole family are on it
  • Moved from useless Orange to Tesco a few years ago and have never looked back. Better service, better coverage, all round better. Can't tell you much about their data though because I don't use it for my phone.

I know I've saw people mention Giffgaff a lot on this forum and I think you get unlimited internet, unlimited texts and 250 mins for £10 top up. They, like tesco also run on O2, so it's worth checking out whether a Giffgaff sim would work in a Tesco locked phone?? I don't have a clue, but it's worth finding out about. HTH
    :) Be nice - it's free! :)
