The OP also has to be careful filling in a DLA application. If they indicate that their anxiety has them housebound then they will not qualify for mobility at all.

The OP has already stated that they have no care or mobility needs which means that they are not eligable for DLA.
  • It's very unlikely you'd get DLA for just anxiety. I tried to claim it for OCD, Agoraphobia/Anxiety and was denied. You can try ESA but good luck with that, I went to hell and back with that and I'm now off it, working a job that is suitable to me as thankfully I'm coming out of the Agoraphobia now having suffered for 5+ years.

    Good luck.

I wasn't aware of half the things I needed help with untill we had help to fill in the DLA forms and that ended in tears. Most people don't even know what classes as care and mobility needs. The question was asked wanting one answer if it was asked wanting to help then a few examples of what those might be wouldn't have gone amiss I'm sure.

People who can't leave the house without help because of agoraphobia can get lower rate mobility DLA. (Of course they may not get it, it depends on the case.)

Different circumstances, but I've had my DLA claim refused, I used to get it, but now they reckon I'm not entitled to HRM as I can walk 50 metres, which I can in sever pain, not that that worries me, as I get it on my War Pension at a higher rate anyway... but they've also cancelled my Lower rate care as I can prepare a meal for myself..... I live alone, what the hell am I meant to do lol Needless to say, i'll appeal, but I think that they might be refusing all claims if they can, hoping that you just accept their decision and go away, saving them money?
Opinions are like bottoms - We all have one, just some stink more than others

Service Attributable Pension - War Pension - War Pensioners Unemployability Supplement - War Pensioners Invalidity Allowance - War Pensioners Comforts Allowance - War Pensioners Mobility Allowance - War Pensioners Child Allowance - Housing Benefit - Council Tax Benefit

I'ma bit confused as to why you would be applying for DLA mobility component when you get mobility supplement for the war pension, as you can only recieve one or other, not both?

You apply for DLA, you can't apply for just elements of it, I then have to notify them once a decision is made that I have the War Pensioners version, sadly and thankfully, there aren't that many War Pensioners and only about 5000 of us get the Mobility element (and it's much harder to get than DLA, as the mobility problems have to be totally due to your pensionable injury and you need a minimum 40% disability pension before you can even apply) The system forgets/isn't designed for add ons like me.... lol

    Hope that makes sense

I see what you mean, I do get a War Pension and low rate care DLA but only have minor mobility problems these days. Just remembered reading somewhere that the two allowance for mobility were mutually exclusive.

Yes, you are correct, you can only have one or the other, but all I am applying for is the lower rate care element that I used to get and this time, I'm not eligable (In that time, I have had a WP tribunal and had my WP increased and awarded the unemployability supp too...) so I don't think I've improved lol

PS Jay Tee, anything to do with Rank?

I'm unlikely to improve, I'm hoping though with the new meds it's under control and won't get much worse.

Yes Jay Tee has a lot to do with rank :D

When with the army guys in rehabilitation centre my name badge said J/T ..... so they used to call me Jay Tee.
