Can you get DLA for anxiety?

Why have you not canceled his DLA if he has improved so much?
He still has 1to1 support at school and I'm waiting for his statement review which is soon to see if they agree that he has improved. The last time I spoke to the about it she said he will need extra support for some time yet but I'm not sure his teacher will agree with that.0 -

Stressed? Over money?
There are 100,000's in that boat in this country, yet they don't react to it by saying 'can I have a disability benefit'.
Good God, there are 10,000's of genuine disabled people, not just anxious about having to spend some money set aside for a house deposit, that are not able to get any financial help for those disabilities because of the way the system now operates.
1,000's have been evicted from their homes, and they don't claim a disablement benefit.
For goodness sake, you think you have problems...........!0 -

Oh dont worry about money. If there is one thing we should all have learned these past few years it is that frugality and careful management of money has few rewards whereas profligacy and debt is good.
I am actually getting into (managed) debt.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -

At one time if I turned a corner in a hall at work and bumped into someone, even a friend, the shock would trigger a panic attack and I'd be out of action for several hours, trying to operate a ticket machine at a station had the same result. We tried working at home but every time the phone rang I went into meltdown. It took some time to get to understand what was happening and learn ways of managing it and avoiding the triggers.
OP you need to talk with your GP and get some help to manage them. Whether that's medication, counselling or whatever. And in the meantime may I recommend 'Rescue Remedy Night' which is available in Boots without prescription.Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

Contrary to popular belief no DLA is not just for people with disabilities it is for people with dissability or illness and that covers a wide range of things from amputation to terminal cancer. If you have care or maybe just mobility needs through agoraphobic symptoms then with a diagnosis for your condition and supporting evidence from a GP or preferably a specialist, to give details of how your condition affects you and what it prohibits you from doing then you would certainly have grounds to claim DLA though of course wether or not you would get it is entirely dependent on how bad your problems actually are and on how well you fill the forms out and how good your evidence is.
Mobility needs can certainly be met by a need such as having to have somebody with you when you are out to help you stay calm and to support you if you have a panic attack. That could come under lower rate mobility criteria for example.
However it is worth noting that it is very depressing to fill out the forms and it is very common to get turned down on your first application, neither of which will be helpful for your current state. Also unfortunately this place isn't great for those that are more fragile as there's plenty of people (as you've already seen) who will jump at the chance to lay into somebody because 'they' think you shouldn't claim DLA for whatever judgmental reason based on not very much at all and many blanks filled in by their own assumptions like that you're asking about DLA before asking for help with your condition when there was no reason to make such an assumption what so ever."Life is what you make of it, whoever got anywhere without some passion and ambition?0 -

Maybe, but the poster is feeling anxious because he has money worries!
So the answer seems to be, well claim a benefit to increase your income!
Q.E.D. - the anxiety stops!
As if all things in life are that simple to treat!0 -

The OP did not say that money worries were the only or even the main reason for the anxiety but of course it doesn't help at all.
The OP has chosen not to give details of what problems brought on the anxiety and that should certainly not be taken to mean that money is the only issue but that whatever their circumstances or experiences have been they do not wish to discuss them which should be respected."Life is what you make of it, whoever got anywhere without some passion and ambition?0
