I'm not certain that Local Authorities give references for their ex-tenants like a private landlord would.

You can check on the Local Authority's website for their level of LHA (Local Housing Allowance) for where you propose to move but you must be aware that the current government is reducing LHA from the beginning of next month.

Can they not move your way?

Have they asked you to move?

Have you got jobs to go to?

You should put the four children you have ahead of almost everything else. Will they benefit from a move to potential homelessness?

I completely agree with what you're saying here :) but we really are thinking of the children above all else , although we do need to be there for them we also need to get out of our area someone was stabbed outside our current home last week , the children our always our number one priority and the move will be very good for them the local schools are in the top 6 and 8% of the country ( primary and secondary respectively) my family all live in Cornwall so this would also be beneficial to them , I suppose I didn't give enough information in my op.
also homelessness is not an option , we have a flat that would could move straight into but it's pricey for the area , through my brothers private landlord , as he is a registered cater he is unemployed and his landlord charges a premium for dss acceptance as we are not going to be on dss we want to find something more long term before we get there, as for jobs hubbys a bar manager and has found many vacancies in the area , obviously he is unable to apply until nearer the time.
we are fully prepared for him not finding a job and have prepared financially so we are covered, although he should find work in his field relatively easy.
the move is in the best interests of everyone , thanks for caring though , I can see how it may look from my previous post :)

also as we have 4 children they give us £22.50 a week towards our housing cost can we assume this will be the same amount for lha in private accomadatio despite the rent being more hubbys wages are likely
to be pretty much the same ,

It'll be based on the assessment of your income against the LHA for the area. So if the LHA for the area is less than the LHA for the area you are leaving you could get less. Bear in mind that the rules on LHA are changing in April, so if you move after that date the LHA rates will be lower.

Cornwall rents may be high, but it will be the LHA rates that the assessment will look at. This will soon be at the 30% level rather than 50%, so you don't know for certain what the rate will be.

There is one LHA rate across the whole of Cornwall (I believe). It is:
    £110 - 1-bed
    £135 - 2-bed
    £158 - 3-bed
