Best value compost?
I think there was a thread on this last year. I just need multipurpose compost for planting seeds, potting on & in my containers. B&Q do 125L for £6.98 which looks reasonable. Anyone seen any better deals?
Also, I have in the past used the contents of growbags (which I think are around 30L?) as compost - but is this the same?

Sort of, but now low in nutrients. Normally used as soil conditioner but if in large tubs would be OK as lower layer but you would have to feed / fertilise sooner
I mostly add last years grow bag contents to the bordersNumerus non sum0 -

Asda have got 3 x 70l = 210l multi purpose for £10 which is a bit cheaper.
I use growbags like that as well but you do need to feed a bit sooner0 -
Netto do 55L bags seerys with added John Innes £3 each or 2 for £5 works out the same as the asda deal and its nice stuff ive never had any problems.

i had to buy some last week for some raised beds
70 L from B&Q
now the cheaper option was 125L , BUT they are very heavy to life, i spent under 2 quid more for the benefit to not lift 125 L0 -
Wickes currently have 4 bags of 70 litres for £13. We bought countless bags to fill a rasied bed and it seems to be lovely compost.Sanity is the playground of the unimaginative!0

            Thanks for all the replies.
I noticed that the B&Q 125L also comes in a peat free version for the same price (6.98).
B&Q also had some 60L bags for £3 (5p/L) - I can't remember the make so don't know if this is any good.
The Wickes 4x75L for £13 seems the best deal (4.3p/L) if you need that much (& is in smaller bags for easier handling)0 -
            Yup, agree with Wickes.0
