    Sorry for asking this.

I am very mixed up as to which shops take which vouchers. Do asda take tesco clubcard deals ones ? Or does it just depend on the store?

With having a new baby I have so many vouchers but never end up using them as I get so mixed up. If I knew asda took any then I would know when to bring them all out with me.

When I had my first sprog - 8 years ago, I always used the vouchers in safeways - They used to take all sorts and any amount for me.

I seem to get so flustered at the tills now and think of the people behind me having to wait till i rummage through my bag (so full of junk)
  • Asda in my area will not take any other vouchers other than their own. They did have a period wher they would take tesco and Sainsburys but they said it got silly so they stopped it.

I'm not defending poor quality staff in any stores (i've encountered quite a few myself), but I can see the stores getting a bit fed up with a few people massively abusing self-scan with lots of vouchers for things they didn't buy (and perhaps that the store can't claim back? I'm sure at some point a supplier asked why the store was claiming back 50x vouchers than they had bought stock!) Going through a normal checkout, the operator can apply the store policy a little better and use their own common sense too, whilst the self-scan and supervisors still need a bit more work to get it right for the shopper. btw, I've used self-scan in the USA for a few years in lots of stores including Wal-mart and not found any problems, the supervisors go out of their way to help if theres a problem on an item, probably because they've still got a job, unlike the 5 people the self-scan replaced.

I also get store vouchers from work and often get problems using them to pay for shopping in all the stores (asda, sainbury, tesco & M&S). Some cashiers didn't give change if it was more than 90p or so on a £10 voucher, some wouldn't accept a large number of them and many had never seen them before and had no idea how to put them through the till - involving a long wait until the supervisor came round.
  • I quite like the self service tills, not really had any problems to be honest.

If I use the manned tills, I always get asked for ID when buying alcohol (even thought I'm almost 23!). The thing is, there must be loads of underage people slipping through the net at these self service tills, as the person manning them only gives a quick glance and authorises the purchase.

All in all, I find them quick and convenient, especially if you're only buying 1 or 2 things.

    :j

p.s. We often use coupons and don't have any problems. Sometimes, the clubcard ones don't work and have to take them to customer service to be put on.
