ASDA: total humiliation free with this coupon

i visited my local ASDA store last week, I decided to use a couple of money off coupons. I had tried to purchase a shop totaling around £25, I used the self scan till, I was the only one there and was in full view of s/a, I used 50p off daz and 50p off uni-ball pen. The latter scanned at £4.50 which surprized me, but not as much as the actions of the s/a who was on me in a flash. She damanded to know what this coupon wasd for and said in a rather nasty way" we,ve been told about these coupons you know" and said i was only allowed to use 3 coupons at a time. when I pointed out that i had only used 2 and this was displayed on screen, she took no notice and oped
ned the till up and removed the two coupons I had posted, damanding to know where the other one was. by now we were drawing stares from other shoppers and I told her i no longer wanted the shopping or the coupons she tried to returned to me. I complained in-store and got so upset that I started to cry, they sent for the !!!/manager,who apart from being pleasant and saying it was all asda,s fault was no help at all. i phoned customer services when i went home and she assured me this was not acceptable and she would have it dealt with asap. i phoned her back today, having heard 0 from them and was informed she had sent me out a gift card for £8:mad: i am now writing to main customer services. they are trying to sweep this under the carpet. i cant let this go, and I,ve never complained to any-one before, but I left this store in tears feeling like a shop-lifter and cant face going back there. So if your into humiliation this is definately the store to shop in. ASDA MORE FOR LESS

i would let the matter rest rather than consume you. You have been hard done to, there i no doubt of that, but pursuing the matter will probably only hurt you more when you come to realise that companies do not care about customers unless they make money for the company.

Hold your head up high and show that you are bigger and better than a petty jumped up uniformed staff member.

on a similar point, my local Asda will accept any number of money off vouchers even if that product has not been purchased! I reckon that I save about 15 quid per month doing this. I have checked it with the managers there, and they said that they don't care if you buy the product or not as they will get re-imbursed by the promoter anyway! Don't know if other stoers do it - give it a go!
Don't bother trying to sue me - I've got no money!

See, the only problem with the Electronic Tills are the !!!!!!s who man them.

They always watch and come over and watch you even more. Iv been affected by this a few times, the machine knows exactly what its doing (The techs realy have sussed it out now) I just wish the staff were as easy to program!!!!!!

The machines are great, they are programmed with all the BOGOF offers and other things and never rip you off, all they know is the correct prices and they give you them.

Good example is when Tesco staff tell you 50p is not enough money spent for clubcard points. If thats so why does the machine do this????

I feel sorry for you teedy! Realy Do........

I do see your point gyzmo, but feel I cant let this rest. These people have to be made accountable for thier actions. If they need to train their staff better then we should let them know. If they decide to ignore this then they should pay the price for that. i do make money for the company, I shop there at least 3 times a week and until now have always extolled the vitues of ASDA, no more. But wont get upset about it anymore

  • if you are buying the products that you have coupons for how do asda justify their position? did you show them the products and the relevant coupons?

hammy its ASDA,s policy to take any coupons up to between 10 or 15% of your shopping as long as they are not store specific e.g. boots coupons I knew this before I tried it. Tonite I went back to asda for the 1st time since and the supervisor said the s/a can take 1/3 of my shopping in coupons. on the way home the bum fell out of the polly bag and my celebratory bottle of wine smashed in the street:mad: phoned back down and told them and c/s said "oh just bring down your reciept and the bottle kneck" as if I,m going to pick it up and bring it home:eek:

  • i can't believe asda could produce a written policy allowing customers to use any coupons for whatever product . if they do they would have to waive your coupons as it would be illegal to pass these on to the manufacturer

perhaps policy is the wrong wording, but they do allow this. I,m not complaining about wether they would accept them, they can refuse any time they like. It was the manner in which I was treated, and the subsequent failure of customer service that really gets to me

Go in there tomorrow, fill 3 trolleys with shopping, go through the self service till, pile it up at the end, then say to the robot "Ooops sorry I have forgotten my purse - can you put it all back for me -thanks".
