Yeah. and whilst I was checking 'em out in Aldi , I got chatting to a Sony technician who was doing the same.
He explained how the 32" panel and some other parts could have come from only one source . . . there were very few 32" LEDs available at the time, in fact he was so impressed, he bought one, stood behind me at the checkout. Makes you wonder eh?0 -

That's brilliant customer service from them. Most TV manufacterers would opt for repairing or swapping for a reconditioned unit as a last resort - so an excellent result there.0 -

The difference in the final picture/audio quality comes about thanks to the electronics wrapped around the panel.
Quality manufacturers such as Sony, LG, etc will use decent components, whereas the likes of Medion, Bush, etc will use the cheapest rubbish they can find (hence the high breakdown rate).Remember kids, it's the volts that jolt and the mills that kill.0 -
Just because panels might come from the same factory, does not mean theyre to the same spec:idea:0

You can't compare Bush and Medion
High breakdown rate? I bought it in 2005 and hung it on the wall.
Until 6 weeks ago it was in the lounge connected to a computer that is on 18 to 20 hours a day (sometimes 24 hours) so mixed use as a monitor and tv for about 7 years.
Just one downside. I have to admit, it's !!!!!!, silver, with the speakers and aux inputs in a box below the screen. (better sound system than most with the speakers on the front obviously)
I decided a thin bezel, piano black telly would look better, so Medion has now been relegated to the kitchen, built into the wall units (where a 28" crt used to reside). Still going strong :j
So if as you say a "decent set" would have cost twice what I paid, I'll stick with the "rubbishy components" that have out-lasted many of the premium brands of friends and family ... very MSE
Sooo ... you don't think the highter cost of Sony, LG etc were anything to do with the high mark-up that's always associated with "the latest tech"? We all know that happens.
I agree, panals have improved and the latest do have more brilliance etc but the main reason is technology not quality.0
