Very unlikely, it's a separate card that costs about £300. Especially for taking the physics (eg gravity effects, particle movement) processing of some games and lets graphics card deal with just the graphics.

  • Mmmm. I'm having trouble setting my resolution to 1440x900. Why then are Dell saying:

    Let us try the following:
    1) Determine if the system contains an AGEIA? PhysX? physics accelerator.
Look for the AGEIA system tray icon:
If the AGEIA PhysX card is installed in your system, you will have an icon in your system tray for it if it has not been removed.

    2) If it is not installed installed then,
you will need to reseat the power connector for the video card. To do so, perform the following steps:
Ensure the system is unplugged and the flea power is off.
Disconnect and reconnect the small end of the power adaptor on the power connector of the video card.
Disconnect and reconnect the large end of the power adaptor to a spare 5 1/4 power connector from the power supply.
Close the chassis, reconnect the power cable into the back of the system, and power the system on.
  • I've just heard of these myself today. I just built my dream Dell system and chucked one of them in with it. I think it was an extra £180

Pity I don't have the money to by my 4 Grand dream system :(:p

Check in your start>program files for Ageia, if it's there open the program and it will tell you if it's installed, if still unsure, download and install the drivers http://www.ageia.com. It'll do no harm if you don't have a card, I've got the drivers on my pc after installing a game (I can't afford physx). Reason I doubted you had one is because it's the kind of thing people would specifically know they'd got it, either ordering a kick @ss game system (not usually found in systems by default) or they'd ordered it separately themselves.

  • I can't see anything. I bought my system from BT (It's a Dell 9150). It is pretty high spec as I want it for music. I do play the odd game on it and I'm told it's a decent spec for that. There was nothing in the spec though when I bought it and I wouldn't have thought it would have been just fitted with no mention. That kind of leaves me bewildered about two things:

    1. Why are Dell telling me to check for something that they should know wasn't fitted as standard?

    2. Why Dell should be suggesting it as a fix for this problem?

    >Why are Dell telling me...<

I'm guessing it's because they've outsourced support to India and the 'help'desk people get paid by how many cases they can process. Pity they can't actually speak and write in English too well...good luck sorting out the 'flea power' :)

They should know from your order shouldn't they. I did a quick look for the specs and although decent machine not one I'd expect to have physx as standard and no mention of it anywhere in specs listed. So it could only be an added option (although I was out of date with price, still expensive as matty pointed out) and probably overkill for that system. If you had it it's possible it could relate to graphics problems but I don't really know enough about physx and I'd have thought looking at your graphics card would be first port of call.

  • Thanks again.

Nvidia have been unable to resolve it thus far...I have re-installed the driver a couple of times.

Does it definitely have an nvidia card? From the specs I found the 9150 had an ATI card.
