...or see what the experts say at pepipoo...

By all means, but there is a lot of guff on there from longterm posters who think they know what they are talking about, but do not.

In the real world, here are a few people who have been fined for similar offences to the OP:

Citing a case where a badge was used when the person named on the badge was DEAD isn't similar in the slightest.
One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.

It is exactly comparable, unless the woman had her dead mother propped up on the passenger seat.

The story goes on to say: "Four other people were also prosecuted last week for disabled badge fraud, and were hit with fines and courts costs totalling more than £2,500."

There are lots of similar reported cases.

It is a legal conveyor belt offence, for which the going rate is fines and costs of about £650, depending on means.

Just head over to pepipoo , regardless what is said above in regards to using a deceased persons badge, they will offer by far the best advice!
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

Three more here - all badge holder not present:

Another one here, fifty more pending in this London borough alone:

Eight more here - all using a badge belonging to somebody else:

Is a picture beginning to emerge?

    NeverAgain,

I don't know what point you are putting across and the reason why, those cases don't help the OP , so its not really relevant , hopefully he will go to pepipoo to avoid the bickering here!

Of course they help the OP.

They demonstrate the offence he is accused of and the penalty he can expect.

They also demonstrate the offence is quite common, so he can assume the magistrates will have dealt with other badge fraudsters - unwitting or not.

I find it a little odd some MSE members are so keen to recommend another forum, but that's up to them.

Looks like the OP's over there, and slowly but surely the sages on there may reach a conclusion.

Although one of their big hitters is not sure the OP is guilty of the offence.

The handbook issued with the blue badge is clear enough, as are the reported cases, but I expect he knows better.

It is fraudulent to use the blue badge when the badge holder isnt in the vehicle. If you were directed to a pay and display spece then you should have paid and displayed.

Because you have used this badge fraudulently - it is likely that your nan will also be investigated and she could have the badge removed. I am not saying this to scare you but I am aware of recent cases where someone has used their relative's badge when they haven't been in the car and they have been charged and the relative has lost their badge.

The longer you put this off then the more the fine will go up. Why not write a polite letter explaining that you were not aware of the restrictions regarding the use of the badge when the holder isnt present. They may give you a reprieve, they may not.

I am aware that councils across the country are clamping down on the misuse of the blue badge scheme (now an orange badge) by those who have no right to use it..this has made national headlines.

Perhaps you would identify for us the guff longterm posters?

Could you also indicate your authority for so judging?

The OP came here for help to see whether he has any prospect or angle to use to defend himself. Ultimately, you may be right that he will face a fine, but it is worthwile some experienced people in such matters asking him some pertinent questions before he just throws in the towel as you have advised.

Oh, and despite being asked to use the quote facility properly on many occasions, for ease of reading, you still haven't had the courtesy to do so.

Doesn't do your much for your own credibility.;)

...Doesn't do your much for your own credibility...

My credibility has got nothing to do with it.

The linked cases and blue badge rules speak for themselves.

Why are you wasting everyone's time sniping at me?

Stick to the questions raised in the thread.

Then we'd all think you were very credible.
