Whats wrong with people?

Everyday I have to follow people doing 40mph in 60 zones then they come to a 30 zone and keep going at 40mph through them aswell.

Whats wrong with these people?

If they are going 40 in a 60 to try to drive safer then I could understand it sort of, as annoying as is it, but when they then go through a 30 zone at them same speed safty is obviously not the reason.

Thing is if they were on there driving test they would fail, its unsafe driving as it then causes people to make silly/risky overtaking manouvers to get past them. Going so slow is just as dagerous as going to fast in my opinion yet the police never do anything about it.

Rant over, sorry.

It's been said before, it's a limit not a target.;)

If thats the case and this is not a problem people are doing the right thing, then why would your fail you driving test for not doing 60 if conditions are right?

Whats the excuse when they are doing it on a nice sunny day with a straight stretch of road no juntions for the next quarter of a mile?

Whats the excuse when they then totally disregard the law and break the 30 speed limit after going at 40 in a 60? A place where speed limits are more important and its more likely to have an accident and injure or even kill a pedestrian, cyclist ect.

I totally understand if there is a blind junction comming up, bad bend, wet roads ect ect. I dont expect people to literally stick to the limit everywhere they go.

Lol, for the reasons stated already if your comming upto a bend and you know there is a junction comming up just the other side of the bend, maybe even halfway round and its likeley someone could pull out not seeing you not really a good idea going into it at 60 obviously, as your simpley not going to stop.

Or a bad bend that you can only get round at 40-50 then of course I would not expect people to try and go round it at 60 lol.

Snow, ice, wet roads obvioulsy would have some effect on your speed also.

But yeah your right generally I aim to do the speed limit roughly everywhere I go, maybe 5-10 over. But of course there are times where its simpley not a good idea.

My friend and I call them average speed drivers, they do 40-45mph everywhere.
I think it's laziness, they just go into auto pilot mode. They're simply not paying attention.

These folks also insist that indicators should be used all the time, even at 3am on an empty road with not a human being within 15 miles and that doing so is a good "habit".

I think your bang on with this I think thats exactly what it is aswell, meaning they are even more dangerous as they are not even pay attention.

Indeed, they annoy me too! You just have to sit back and look at the chaos that ensues behind a 40mph drive on a busy S2 road. Not just drivers trying to overtake, but also drivers trying to overtake those ahead of them in the queue. A recipe for disaster which could be avoided if the car in front just got on with it!

    The 40mph everywhere driver is a bit of a cilche, I generally find a driver doing 40mph in a 60 will do about 20mph in a 30.

The 40 Brigade are always right. They've never had an accident in years of driving - except those they caused in their rear view mirror.

Or 30 in a 30 if he's sticking to the speed limits for his vehicle.;)

Well I'm talking about car drivers here, not HGVs, at least they have a reason for doing 40mph!
