If you need a new machine, I would recommend Bosch. We have had 2 Zanussi before and 1st class washing only lasted about 18 months then went downhill on both machines. Bosch has been ace.
Like I said, not had one of things before, so forgive me!!! Ok, so if the tablet falls out but is still there at the end of the cycle, I guess that means something else is wrong???0 -
The door dispenser thing is just released when the dishwasher is on the cleaning cycle into the dishwasher then it's meant to dissolve into the water, that's it. Assuming it is released and there is water in there then I don't understand how it can ALL still be there like you say. You can open the door mid cycle, and make sure stuff's wet and working? Don't put anything in that would obstruct the arms which spin round and the bottom and top and under the top basket either. Why do today what you can put off until tomorrow.0

we were advised after checking with the local water board, that we needed to use salt regardless of what we used to clean the dishes with ie liquid or tabletssmile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to....

Cheers all. S
Sorry Mc4ndy, not being very clear today (it's Friday and I can't wait to get home - although I have a dishwasher to fix when I do!). The tablet is about half disoolved in the bottom of the washer at the end of the cycle...
We live in the Thames Water regoin which appears to have pretty "soft" water...0 -

My point is the AMOUNT of salt. If the dishwasher is dispensing it AND you use x in 1 tablets then you could be using too much salt. If you use x in 1 tablets then they contain salt and you should set the dishwasher to dispense none or very little. If you use powder or tablets with no salt then you should use salt dispensed by the dishwasher. The amounts of salt needed varies with the softness / hardness of your water. If you check the manual it will most likely tell you how much is needed based on either the clarke scale or mg/litre as calcium.

Soft water does not need much salt. Try an ordinary powder which will dissolve much more easily. Fill the salt dispenser with salt and set to release a low amount, add rinse aid and see what results you get.Why do today what you can put off until tomorrow.0 -
This link might be useful
mentions your cloudy glass problem a bit lower down..

Agree. Unless you're in a hard water area, a 5 in 1 tablet could be enough. I had terrible problems with Finish products making glasses cloudy - no problems since I switched. I use Lidl Adritt now, and find them very good. I've stopped using the dispenser in the door - this could be the OP's problem if it's not dissolving properly - they often sort of dissolve enough to become sticky and stay lodged in the dispenser, so now I just chuck the tablet in the cutlery basket.
Otherwise, as the others have said, try cleaning the filter. Try also removing the spray arms and running water through them and see if any of the holes are blocked.
My last DW was an Indesit, and I wouldn't get one again, I'm afraid. If this one is new, maybe it would be worth trying to get it replaced?0 -
Yes, Bosch is good, we just got one of their Logixx ones, really good, so quiet!0

what makes it more confusing is the chap selling the machine and the manual and the water board have all given us conflicting information, the manual says check with water board, the water board say check with manufacturer.
i dont control what level of salt my dishwasher dispenses, i just put the salt in a container (of sorts) under a screw on lid at the bottom of the machine, we alsways us e finish tablets, admittedly if it doesnt have salt in, a light shows and the longer we leave adding salt, the less clean the dishes are....smile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to....
