Worth moving to TT on LLU?

My exchange has just been unbundled by TT (the only LLU on it) and they are offering a very temping bundled offer of BB & LL.
I have seen a lot of negative feedback but the majority of it has been from ex Tiscalli customers not TT customers.
Being on a very low income the 50% reduction in cost of BB & LL would be very welcome, but not at the cost of a poor locked in service.
I am currently on PN's Unlimited broadband (£25.42/month) and BT E&WE calls (£14+/month).
I have just arranged with PN to move my phone to them (generating a small but welcome saving) but it is on a months contract so can move easily, and my BB is on a 10 day notice.
Having had TT on the phone at lunchtime (being passed through 3 people to answer my questions) they say no download limit on the plus service and only p2p is throttled (not an issue) during 20-24:00.
I was asking about open ports (they didn't know what I was talking about hence the 3 people, even the 3rd was sure ) as I used to run my own mail server and occasionally want to remote control my home pc.
) as I used to run my own mail server and occasionally want to remote control my home pc.
So do they offer static ip's?
Is there a hidden FUP on plus?
Are any ports blocked?
Is there any hidden cost in moving FROM LLU back to adsl if I decide I don't like it in the 30 day "trial"?
They say speed will be 4.6Mb but my current router links at 7Mb (7008Kbs at the mo) I assume that it should be higher after I move?
Cheers

Well swapping to TalkTalk is cheap.
So is going down the pub and picking a fight with the biggest and ugliest bloke in there if you have a toothache and want it out.
Probably about as much pleasure would come from either action.
Seriously - search this board using TalkTalk as a keyword. Obviously as it's a support board there will be mostly problems reported but some of them involving TalkTalk are out of this world ridiculous.
Oh yes - if you want to go with somebody else once your 18month sentence is completed look forward to lots more fun.0

It is a 12 Month contract an there is a 30 day get out option.
I have read this board along with several others, as I said most of the problems relate to ex Tiscalli customers NOT new LLU customers.
I had massive issues with my current isp several years ago and moved from them then swearing never to return, but I did and have had no problems over the past 2 years.Registered Linux user #497422 :beer:0

Thanks for that, although it was to do with the "free" bb they were offering and there was problems at the start - there always is is there? It now seems to have been fixed, 36% happy and last few comments positive, I’ve checked on thinkbb as well and apart from the same moans as above (people who were with Tiscalli etc having problems) most seem happy with the service - as long as you can use the forums and fix simple issues yourself (Since I am going to be using Linux which they don't support anyway ---) I cant really see any reason not to move. If the service is really bad then I can move back to PN within the 30 days trial.Registered Linux user #497422 :beer:0

            kenr,
i joined talktalk LLU last september not because they are cheap, but simply that they were the only LLU provider in my exchange and as i live close to the exchange, i knew i could get higher speeds than being on a BT (spit) ip-stream based service.
Well 6 months later i am a very happy customer My router (Billion 7800N) syncs at 17meg and i get my line speed 24/7. Customer services over the phone is hit and miss but their online support staff are very helpful. Highly recommended My router (Billion 7800N) syncs at 17meg and i get my line speed 24/7. Thanks BF, Similarly TT are the only option I have (Tiscalli are there but not accepting registrations, and since TT own Tiscalli ...) Looks like I will be moving after I get my phone moved to PN next week (I just want away from BT just now - the mess they make of billing when their 12 month offer is a month after the bill is ridiculous. My bill was in for the next 3 months so they charged me for E&WE even though I am a rolling contract for them FREE PAH!)
So with PN for a month on everything then move to TT in about 3 weeks and hopefully everything will settle down. I hope to get BETTER speeds than they quoted 4.6Mb as I am currently on 7Mb with PN/BT, whether I use their router or mine depends on the sync speed.Registered Linux user #497422 :beer:0

Like most things, if everything runs ok "they're wonderful" but if you have problems and the CS is rubbish . . . then you spend hours on web forums telling the world what a load of c**p they are . . .
 You pays your money . . etc0

Well what do you expect for £3.49pm broadband? Zen broadband type customer support over the phone paying their staff £10p/h? No, you're going to get offshore support staff over the phone who are trained to read scripts from the screen. However as I mentioned in my previous post to the OP, their forum staff are all UK based and very technically minded. On the day i went live, i put a forum request to have my downstream SNR changed to 6db (from their default 12db) and to be put on a fastpath profile. 1 hr later that was done, no questions asked
OP, i forgot to mention that TalkTalk do traffic shape but its only P2P torrents they shape...and even then its dynamic shaping (ie depending on exchange capacity at the time). So TalkTalk might not be so good for you if you use P2P a lot...all their other protocols run at full speed 100% of the time.0

I decided to go with talk talk a few months ago . Best decision i have ever made . Broadband runs brilliantly , flat out all day long .0

OP 25.42/mth seems high. Is it a legacy paxjabe you're on? There are much cheaper PN packages.
