6 year old expensive tap, manafacturer can not supply replacement valve/cassette

Hi there.. Newbie here
I hope someone can help me with this. I have searched for answers to my problem and cant seem to find the answer.
I bought a really nice kitchen tap 6 years ago. It started leaking from the ceramic valve/mixer/cassette (a common fault and is allways replaced when they start to fail)
I contacted the manafacturer Carron Pheonix and they sent out a replacemment the very next day... Great!
Except the replacement does not fit. I rang them and they told me that is the part I require and if it doesnt fit then its a different tap and we can not help further. I obtained proof of purchase and proof that it is one of their taps and fowarded this to Carron Pheonix. They have now admitted it is a tap they sell and they are contacting GESSI an Itallion manafacturer they used to make this particular tap on their behalf to see if this part can be sourced and sent to me so I can fix the leak.
My question is... By law how long should a manafacturer keep a stock of spare consumables? If I cant fix this I will have to throw a £300 tap in the bin... its warranty ran out after 5 years
Thank you in advance for any help on this

There is no law on spare parts. If the tap was inherently faulty, you would have a claim against the retailer, but the chances of proving that after six years use are nil.Gone ... or have I?0

It sounds like they are doing that, as they are contacting their supplier?Gone ... or have I?0 -
There are a few good plumbing forums about, the plumbers on there may be able to suggest something.0

You could try googling for something like:-
make & model parts
make and model spares
Often there will be suppliers of either original parts or "pattern parts" - made to the same spec etc, just not by your manufacturer. The choice on using those would be yours.
I'm pretty sure we have a plumber or two posting on the In My Home board, so I could move this thread across for you if you wish?Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. Thanks all
I did the rounds of plumbing merchants and tap specialists last week and no one could help... there is a fantastic site online which if i'm allowed to mention it is called lunns.net, they have photos of every sort of cassette except mine, so I called them and he was very helpful but actually hasnt come across my cassette before, I recomend anyone reading this and has a similar problem to check them out.
I would say I am pretty good at finding things that arent meant to be found but this one I think is gonna beat me.
I would still be gratefull of any further advise and help so if you think it might help to move the thread then please do.
for information the cassette is 25mm wide and the main part is 25mm long but it seems what sets this one apart from other cassettes is that it has no locating pins at the front near the red 3 hole gasket but instead has a lump of plastic on the side on the cylinder itself which would locate and lock into a channel in the inside of the cassette housing on the actual tap
yes I have photos!! and its for the Spyra tap
thanks again0 -
Have you spoken to a Magnet trade counter? I know they have stocked CP taps for some years, and when I wanted the same tap that my parents had bought several years earlier they were able to find me one.Gone ... or have I?0
