Room share

its funny how everyone is kicking off over this and myself preferably I would not share but if that was the choice then of course I would do it as it is only 1 or 2 nights.
Sportmen doing their jobs don't seem to have a problem with it.
Mountain out of a molehillThe Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!
If I give you advice it is only a view and always always take professional advice before acting!!!
4 people on the ignore list....Bliss!0 -
The world is going to hell in a handcart, people are dying in Japan, there is near nuclear meltdown, people are fighting for freedom in Africa and the Middle East and you are having a moan about room sharing!0
-
This is a completely different situation!
Ever been put on the ABORTION ward while recovering from a MISCARRIAGE due to lack of space and no side rooms available? No?
Trust me hearing someone go on about their dog/cat/3 kids/barbados holiday is far more fun than having someone going on about how wonderful it was to get rid of their feotus while you are getting over losing a child. And no I had no choice in that either!

As I said, a completely different situation.
Your sad experience has nothing whatever to do with hotel bookings for a business trip.0 -
I've shared a flat with colleagues before, but never the same room. I think it's totally unprofessional and I would be looking to change jobs if my employer thought this was reasonable to ask of me.0

Oh for heaven's sake!
By those yardsticks anything to do with employment in the UK is trivial which begs the question.....
Why are you wasting your superior intellect on this forum instead of saving the world?0 -
I had pretty much the same thing around a year ago, had to be at a training day quite early on so most were provided with overnight accomodation at various hotels, i ended up sharing a room with someone i'd never met nevermind worked with as the company i work for is scattered far and wide throughout the UK, we had a good time went to the pub, got some food and a good chat about various things and still speak occasionally now, can't see what the actual problem is here tbh it's just for one night, do you not speak to anyone at work who you could share with?0
-
The employer also has to be very careful here. If this is for work purposes and any member of staff makes a formal complaint about another (esp if sharing a room) then the employer may be liable for the situation. (Similar to staff parties.) I'm not sure of the exact precedents set, but I sure as hell wouldn't want to be setting myself up for legal claim that something happened in a shared room!
KiKi' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".0 -
If the employer are cost cutting. It would be better for them to go to a cheaper hotel and offer colleagues their own rooms than spending the same per room before cutting costs and expecting employees to share.0
-
Uncertain, honesstly, do you really think that sharing a room is all that scary? I mean what will the other person be? an axe murderer? boring? gay?
Let me see...not share a room, management don't look kindly...on list for redundancies, lose job all because of not sharing a room and for being a "difficult" employee or suck it up and share!
In the grand scheme of things, in this big wide world where jobs are scarce and there are plenty of job seekers....
SHARING A ROOM IS NOT THAT MUCH TO WORRY ABOUT.0
