Room share

My employers have a conference soon and require us to double up on hotel rooms!
I don't think this is reasonable as I don't work with the others on a day to day basis and therefore don't know them very well.
I also snore very badly so would want to inflict that on anyone.
Can they really insist on this?

Could you maybe see if you can have a room to yourself? Even if it means paying something towards it? I know I'd feel very uncomfortable sharing a room with someone I didn't work with or no very wellSaved: £1566.53/ £20000

I'm on minimum wage at the moment and can't afford to contribute to a room.
It's crazy, they are selling it as a benefit / bonus but it's causing nothing but worry.0 -
I'd definitely see if you can speak to someone and just express your concerns. Is it just for one night?Saved: £1566.53/ £20000

I don't see this as a big deal really. Presumably it'll be someone of the same sex and in a twin room...
Perhaps your employer can't afford to send you all with your own rooms, it would double their cost. So the option is to share, or only send half of you. So watch out, if this is raised as an issue, some of you might end up not going at all.Cash not ash from January 2nd 2011: £2565.:j

Any advice given is as an individual, not as a representative of my firm.0 -
I agree that it's nothing to make a fuss about. I'd just go and get on with it.0

I wouldn't! If the employer can't afford for their staff to have a room each, then they can't afford to send staff to the conference. It should be part of the calculations.
I'd only share a room if it was a good chum AND I had thought of it first. No way would I share with some people I've worked with in the past.If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -

Employer made £200m last year with 1000 staff!0 -
Is it essential that you go to the conference? Are there enough rooms for everyone to have their own?Gone ... or have I?0
