Can you block 0 feedback eBayers from bidding?

We sold something on eBay - quite expensive but cheaper than others start price on there.

Someone bid on it about 'bought it'. A new bidder, but who has not paid.

I've had a look at the item and there are few items the same, from mainly one retailer, that have BIN at a higher price.

Am I cynical enough to think that he opened a new account just to buy the item so he would not lose a sale, therefore leaving others just to buy his item? We cannot sell it for a couple of weeks after the auction ends.

Can I block new bidders? Obviously the payment is not going to come and we need to get rid of this item as we need to buy an upgrade. Annoyed that it's been 2 weeks now and we now have to list it again and he might well do it again. I'd like to block 0 rated bidders if I can - is this possible?

Unfortunately you can only block users with negative feedback which is a bit outdated seeing as sellers have not been able to neg buyers for years now! So you can only block really really bad sellers now!

I think you can block buyers with a feedback score lower than any specified number. I'm sure I''ve done it as new buyers are often a problem.

    From ebay:
You can block buyers from bidding on or purchasing your items by specifying buyer requirements. You can block buyers who:
    • Don't have a PayPal account
    • Have unpaid items recorded on their account
    • Have a primary delivery address in countries you don’t post to
    • Have breached eBay policies
    • Have a Feedback score lower than the number you specify
    • Are currently winning or have bought 1-100 of your items in the last 10 days (you can specify the number)
You can also block buyers based on their user ID by creating a blocked list.
Think carefully before blocking buyers. While selecting buyer requirements may reduce your exposure to buyers who could make transactions difficult, it will also reduce the number of potential buyers you'll have for your items.

Have you opened an unpaid item dispute?

Great. So this means it could happen again? Wonderful. I guess I can just wait. I bet their is no way they can stop him doing it again then, either. Tsk.

Thank you for replying so quickly.

How many times can you get a relist credit if someone keeps on buying it over an over? My husband watches the items all the time and they go for more than this other buy has them on BIN for, which makes me wonder if he is not opening a whole load of accounts over and over to push prices up so his get bought on BIN.

I have no option to this in Buyer Requirements - only to block out lower than -1, -2 or -3?

Blue Monkey, do you have a no feedback buyer snapping up all your items?

No you can't... as above the only numbers you can specify are -1, -2 or -3

    I've had a look through and yes, it's just a -1, -2, 03 so cannot block a new buyer.

Yes, a new buyer is doing this activity. Probably to put us off trying to sell the item on there. Don't you need a cedit card to open an account these days?

If they have done it repeatedly on several of your listings and have not paid then phone ebay asap and explain. I had a similar situation and had the offending account removed (de-registered) within 5 minutes of me phoning ebay.

Yeah, Ebay don't look to kindly on that sort of thing :)

If it's buy it now, why don't you tick the box for immediate payment required? That saves you blocking thousands of innocent new buyers.

Can also potentially decrease your market. Some buyers like to buy several items from the same seller, or even from different sellers, and then pay all at once. I used to use immediate payment required and then switched it off after reading something similar to what I am typing and saw a marked increase in sales, including people who would pay after a few days.
