We always pay refund return postage unless it's just a simple change of mind, and sometimes we even refund for that! Still lost TRS though. That's the problem, even the good sellers can lose out under the present system

I was recceiving an average of 5 for every 20 items sold.....just goes to show you that the number of dishonest people is higher than we would like to believe - whether that is down to the post office or buyers.
That is way too high. I expect you sell high risk items, like phones and PCs? Myself and many other sellers I know of, don't experience that level of INR, even when not using a trackable/signed for service.0 -
Selling on ebay does have it's risks....and I agree, it does rely on the fact that most people are honest.
HOWEVER, sadly I have resorted to sending EVERYTHING even if it sold at 99p via 2nd class recorded and do you know what?? I have not have had ONE item not received case where I was recceiving an average of 5 for every 20 items sold.....just goes to show you that the number of dishonest people is higher than we would like to believe - whether that is down to the post office or buyers.
The other thing I have found is that don't do things via email....as you say, people are happy to hide behind a PC screen. Pick up the phone and speak to them you can get the number from the buyer contact page. I sold a pair of Gucci shoes that the buyer wanted to return (to be fair it was my fault, listed as the wrong size) so I agreed the refund. When they came back, they were minus the dustbags which can have a significant effect on the final price and can also be sold separately. I picked up the phone, thanked them for returning them so quickly and added that the dustbags werent in the envelope, would the buyer mind forwarding them so that I could issue the refund? The buyer was surprised to get a phone call from me and agreed to post them the next day - the cynic in me wonders if I would have had the same response on email......
I don't think ebay will be able to help you I'm afraid - their policy is "the buyer is always right" so report them for their threatening/bullying behaviour and forward on all their emails but stick to your guns and say a refund will be given once the item is returned. You are under no obligation to pay the return postage oddly enough and if they have left you neg fb already then they have no intention of being reasonable. Reply to it saying you are sorry buyer wasn't happy (also check what fb they have left for other people - can be an eyeopener sometimes!!) and then block them.....pretty much all you can do and chalk it down to experience
Good luck xxxxx
I've noticed a trend for sellers not to put a complete address in nowadays, just a generic location.
I have to admit though, I've never been upset by any seller, a few have made mistakes, but sorted them out, we've had a couple of mutual cancellations, and two or three things have got lost.
The only one I wasn't keen on, was a collection only, good condition, which was scrap when I arrived. I didn't pay, they tried to tell me I had to, as I had bid on it. Even then I agreed to a mutual though, in spite of my costs in time and petrol.
(and one collection only, that refused to give me an address)0 -
