Hi, this is the Daily Thread for xx (add date). This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Good morning everyone,
Grey and drear here but not too misty.
Got two lots of bedding dry on the line yesterday:)
Dinner tonight will be creamy ham and butternut squash gratin made with lo ham and rest of butternut from Sunday. Just feeding the two of us tonight - I think. Plans often change:)
Right I'd better get ready for work.
Hugs to all who need or want them,
Happy Wednesday, Silver x

Morning!
Today is just a slow day... work, home, dinner!
Tonight I am making Chicken Tikka Masala from scratch for the first time
I booked my camping holiday yesterday (2 nights) for over my 30th Birthday... I am really looking forward to it
Hope everyone has a great day xWe spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy! Mortgage Free Wannabe :dance:Overpayments Made: £5400 - Interest Saved: £11,550 - Months Saved: 240 -
Early morning everyone - been up since 5.15a.m. and it's annoyed me!
Just heading for the shower, then will make my bacon and eggs before going down the M1 again. Will be away until Sunday this time, first in East Midlands and then up to Glasgow (hope the snow stays away this time).
Freezer full - cauliflower leaves and sprout ends ready to go outside for the wild rabbits and suitcase packed.
Hope you all have a good week.0 -
Morning silvermaid, JulieGeorgiana and everyone else
A bit dreich here this morning as well - washing will be on airer or in TD.
So far this week's shaping up to be one of those high speed ones, where there's tons of stuff going on and there's no such thing as a slow spell! DS3 was sick Monday night, so extra cleaning, last night was my evening class, so a mad rush to get tea, etc. Today I have my appraisal at work, then a surprise job interview in the afternoon for a different job (but yippee! :j), rounded off by WI committee meeting tonight. Thurs/Fri look the same, then we're away for the weekend with family. (*yawn smiley*)
We have bits of salad stuff in the 'fridge, so think tea will be HM pizza with said salad, then yogurt & apple or rice pudding.
Have a good day, hugs & kisses all round, see you later.

Morning all
Sleepless night last night, redundancies announced at work, contrary to all the promises that the redundancies would be shared between teaching staff & support staff, it's lots of the support staff going. 10 support staff equals 1 senior management salary & we are hugely overstaffed on top as we have 7 Heads, but it's us at the lower end who are going to suffer, now there's a surprise!
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning everyone - thick fog and a very heavy dew outside on the field. Got up at 5.30 to find that OH hadn't even bothered to empty the DW so have blitzed the kitchen, put yesterdays washing in the TD (heavy items go on the radiators), last nights wet bedding in the WM. Put a couple more books on amazon, sold 2 last night so will be off to the post office this morning.
OH taking children to school this morning so I'll nip to the gym, before going to see the local hotel about having a do there for the school. Got LOADS of things for the jumble sale - still have the kitchen and dining room to sort out. OH seems like he can't be **sed to do anything, so will be taking the junk to the tip, have a quick clean around, then will be looking through the recipe books to see what I can make for the freezer!!Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -
Morning all.
DC2 was up in the night again, being sick. Was perfectly fine all day yesterday but came in to us at 3am to say he wasn't sure but he thought he had been sick. He had, all over the clean bedding so my WM will be working overtime again today.
It's overcast here and damp. Our garden doesn't get any sun as it is north facing and surrounded by flats, so I can't put any washing out as it doesn't dry.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -
Morning all,
Foggy here this morning, but meant to be nice later on, I am off to work today, so quick tidy round this morning, will put a wash on tonight.
Mum and dad came round for coffee yesterday, dad had been out with his helper, and had been to her house and picked flowers for my mum, and collected new laid eggs, he had a great time, but was shattered so he was off for a sleep, seems to be working well.
Dinner tonight is hot dogs in rolls, with wedges and sweetcorn, nice and easy to prepare when I get in.
Hester I hope your job is safe xx
have good days all xx
Silver, thanks for posting the recipe yesterday, I will try it out soon x0 -
Morning all
RR - sounds like things are settling down for you now, take a rest if you get chance! x
Foggy and chilly here this morning, but supposed to get better later. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock. Dinner last night was "quickie tea", boys had scrambled egg/cheese on toast, DH had egg, bacon etc and I had mushroom omlette and salad. Tonight I have swapped meals around so men/boys will be having fish, chips and beans and I'll have fish, jacket, veg/salad.
Work has been horrendous the last two days, had computer problems, too many customers, not enough staff ..... hoping today may just be a little quieter! Only working today until lunchtime then I'm done until Monday, I'm really glad too, not often I say that as I love my job. Haven't been able to run either as leg is still playing up, think I may try again on Friday or just do fitness dvd.
Going to hang washing out on line in a mo, see if it get's dry. Have appointments on Thursday and Friday so a couple of busy days for me with all the normal stuff I need to do! Like to get stuck in on Thursday so at least I get a tidy house, washing basket etc empty for a little while etc, then some time off at the weekend.
Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

Morning folks, it's not often I'm posting at this time - usually check what you are all up to on my phone or at lunchtime when the IT team allow internet access!
WM about to go on with DH's shirts, have a handful of things to iron so will do that tonight. Also want to bake gingerbread to take into work for for Red Nose day, will make a carrot cake tomorrow evening too.
Have had notification of my "security" at work, well at least for another 12 months until the next phase of the budget cuts impact on our council. Have spent the last 10 days printing out notice letters & redundancy figures for my bosses to give out to my colleagues, so not a very pleasant task
Also had my letter advising me of my pay cut details - 1% cut to "pay" for staff car-parking, plus 4 days pay to "buy" 4 extra days holiday (which I didn't really want!).....Oh well, at least it's all salary-sacrificed and the tax threshold is going up too so in real terms it will only cost me about £19 a month, which over the whole council has saved about 150 jobs.
And to cap it all, I've had a request to go for my smear....and reading the letter, if I go before I am 47 (in 2 weeks) then I will get another before I am 50, otherwise I will have to wait until i'm at least 52 as the screening period changes then - oh, joy!
Oh well, at least I've got our mini-break Dublin next week to look forward to, and DH was too busy with other clients to be sent to Japan this week - thank goodness. I've just read that the staff are being removed from the Fukushima reactor site.....it sort of makes you wonder if God is really fed up with what mankind are doing to his world, doesn't it, what with Australia's fires & floods, NZ's earthquake and now Japan.
:grouphug: all round, and have a good day.

Good Morning All
Good News about your Dad Redruby, glad it is going well.
Hester & Floss, hope work today isn't too bad. Horrible situation to be in but so many places are doing the same thing.
Middle of the week :j, week being going ok so far. Today am off to the local hairdresser. They are doing a special on cut and colour so I am going back to brown from blonde. My hair grows so quickly at the moment that the roots are driving me mad.
Have unloaded dw, loaded wm and wiped down the kitchen. Will get a couple of essential business things done before I head off. When home think will spend the afternoon ironing and have a major office day tomorrow.
Have roast chicken for dinner, from the M&S special they had at the weekend.
Have a good day all.x0
